Loading from this end of the world (Australia), for me it has to be Alabaster ...

Alabaster!
It loads faster and looks much nicer than Goo.
Goo fans are nostalgic (SP?) conservatives stuck in the past

...and as I've spent most of my time in the future, what's the opposite of nostalgic?
Mind you, as everything computer-related must change about every six months I suppose h2g2 is ready for another appearance..

Alabaster...'cos it looks more like SQL (which I'm supposed to be doing) from 12.2 feet away.

Classic Goo is the best.
*takes offence at being called a nostalgic conservative by The Frood*
and mine is Black Goo, like Tweetie's, not Blue Goo, like the rest of you seem to have...

Just as I was reading this forum yesterday, my screen flickered and the blue I had been bathing in all these months suddenly turned nearly black. Sort of blue serge school skirt colour. So I am temporarily on Alabaster, but my eyes are beginning to hurt already. See ya in Goo

I've just noticed that, apart from all the other twiddly bits, Alabaster also has forward and fast forward buttons for conversations where you are already at the end of the thread.

Well -- both... And I do not say that in order to avoid more tomatoes being thrown at me (as it happened somewhere else in the Ask H2G2 fora).
Rather, I generally like Goo's looks -- but I really like the Alabaster column of recent postings. When in Goo, you have to scroll all the way down to find the postings.
(now -- I theoretically could shorten up the my-space-page?)

Couldn't resist going and having a look after you'd said that. Then I noticed I'd been there before. What would you leave out? It's all part of YOU.

Alabaster - it is easier to read black on white than white on dark blue... plus it is the one I first saw when I came on to the site. But I am obviously in the minority.

The people who shout loudest are usually the minority. The majority just get on with it.

Alabaster - easier to read (or at least it is on a terminal with all the graphical capabilities of a calculator) and more clearly laid out.
If this mooted purist HHGTTG skin ever becomes a reality, though, you can sign me down for that like a shot!

Sign me down. That's a new one on me. Have definitely been away too long. *makes note to look up RyanAir after finishing on H2G2*
Here's an important piece of advice for everyone, though. When you write an entry, preview it in both skins. The width varies and, of course, images come up different as well. (I mean they have a different effect depending on whether they are on a white or blue background.)
