I'm just glad they (USAians) have been completely put off the scent by all the conspiracy theorists and haven't noticed that we're taking back the colonies by installing a british citizen as president.
And they haven't noticed the legislation renaming the post of president as govenor general.
Happy Fourth of July!

As a bit of a departure:
Happy Fourth of July!
I hope all our American friends (and foes) have a cheery and safe holiday.

I was in the DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehickles) on Thurday, waiting for my ticket number to pop up on the screen when it announced, with a backdrop of the Capitol Building and the US flag, that all DMV offices would be closed on Friday July 4th for Independence Day.
Hmmm.
alec.
Happy Fourth of July!

And a sad Fourth of July:
'Taliban militants fired rockets and mortars at a U.S. base in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, killing two American troops and wounding several more in a two-hour battle, officials said.'

Both the Dragononthefloor and the BBC list forgot one of the most important. Free press.
The US is not perfect, far from it. Remember for example the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, but never forget that the American press revealed it to the world.

The fact that they elected the penultimate Chicago political machine candidate from a state that is heavily reliant on coal on a platform that promoted the canard of *clean coal*. Come home Boss Hogg, all is forgiven!
Other than that, they make great hamburgers (if you like that sort of thing) and renew hope for a beaten mankind.
Key: Complain about this post
