No I didn't, and no I don't.
But at least you've stopped tarring your fellow countrymen with the same brush.

I find WWF pathetic too, I think it encourages unnecessary violence in children, you should watch them next time they are trying to re-enact some of the moves, I expect my cousins to kill each other all the time
As for Jerry Springer does everyone know it's staged? It fobs itself off as a real life chat show, at least east enders is a soap opera, it's meant to be mindless drivel, you sit and watch it and say thank god I'm not like them/they don't exist! *or in my case you don't watch it at all!*
BTW if you think eastenders is bad you should see corrie!

The Wrestling thing is almost a subculture in and of itself here in the U.S. The fans of the sport gather together and bond more tightly over the thing than any sport I know of (not that it's a sport, mind you). But I've never understood how anyone could find it interesting at all.
What's Corrie, anyhow?

I was forced to watch it as a child, and I'm 40 now. It's been going on a *long* time, and personally I can't stand it.

It's a bit like marmite, another very English thing that some English Love and the rest hate, along with most of the non English!

Well, most sitcoms here are IMHO fairly unwatchable. But soap opera-type stuff? Um, there's one here called "Passions" which was so insanely stupid and had such awful acting that I wanted to slam my head against a wall (one of my coworkers insisted on watching it every day during lunch). I couldn't even follow what was going on other than it involved the supernatural.
Beyond that, you can also bet on a majority of the made-for-TV movies to be pretty bad as well. Even the "event" movies (ones with more money and hype) have proven pretty bad in recent years. Look up "Dinotopia," "Asteroid," and "Noah's Ark" for the most recent disasters.
The good TV not involving sports here in the US surrounds our dramas. "Law and Order," "The West Wing," "CSI," and "Nero Wolfe" are a few good examples.

Hey, other than soap operas, what show lives forever? I remember being really upset when Star Trek: The Next Generation finished its run.

US TV that I love - West Wing, Third Watch, Oz, 24, Homicide Life on the Streets (why o why was it cancelled), Law & Order, CSI, The Simpsons & Malcolm in the Middle, Daria, Soap.
US TV that I hate - Ricky, Jerry Springer, Oprah etc etc etc, soap operas (Dallas, Dynasty and all their spin offs), Docu soaps, anything that reconstructs real life crimes, anything where the title contains the words "The Worlds Best/Worst......", Friends, Sienfeld, Frasier.........

Daria...
US TV at its finest. Deserves a much wider audience. If you've never seen it, imagine a cartoon of the life of "Darlene" from "Roseanne" (the only character worth watching in that show) but with a funny family...
