As one does, I was reading law review articles about writing law review articles, and I was rather amused to come across this:

You can make your article original in three ways. First, even if you deal with a subject that isn't new, you can produce an original conclusion. For example, if every scholar in history has concluded that 6 x 9 = 54, you can write an article concluding that 6 x 9 = 42. 20
