Not being picky but ....who?
Was this reported in the broadsheets or the BBC?

First rule of Deathlist -
"When it lookest as if thou hast got away with pulling a fast one, thou shalt keep thy trap closed and not push it, sunshine"

New York Times broad enough?

I refer the slight honorary gentleman to the Deathlist rule that stipulates -
"The definition of 'celebrity' is someone well-known enough to have their death reported on the websites of BBC News or any of the British Broadsheets. No report; no points."

Tell you what the really irritating thing is: Her story was reported in the Daily Telegraph last October when she made this right-to-die reversal decision. None of the UK ones chose to cover her demise in February, though, only the US ones.
I might have to appeal to the ethics committee on this one. Incidentally, what do our non-UK players think about not allowing points for a death that hasn't been reported in a British broadsheet?

Whilst I understand the need for a definition. I've never seen the need to stipulate BBC or british press only - the NY times is indeed quite famous as publications go.
I'll stand firm on opposing the non-natural cause of death thing though. She was dying of cancer and would have gone sooner or later anyway.
Controversial one this huh?

Hey Orcus, unless you're immortal, you'll be going 'sooner or later anyway.'
Let's face it, we only have Deathlist for these arguments

I think the rules are quite clear - BBC or British - not local stories in the colonies.
Who wants to tell Mu he's wrong?

I think you're confusing the letter and the spirit of the law. If by enforcing a rule which many believe to be not in keeping with the spirit of the game you alienate our valued players from outside the UK, many would agree that the rule as written should be waived.

mmm, I think changing the rules to include non-uk newspapers would be fine, but sorry Icy not retrospectively
I still think he would have been entitled to the extra 5 points, yes she was terminally ill but in the event, the breathing machine went wrong, there was no replacement at weekends
Under any other circumstance she was too ill to be moved and had to have additional interventions that otherwise not have happened and that it can be argued that this had a causal factor to play in her death at that actual time

Strewth, I wasn't expecting this backlog, but I did update the Deathlist and the scoreboard in a rush, I didn't read the article fully. Equipment malfunction means extra points, which I've applied. This places Icy North leader of the pack. I'm going to allow Grace Lee until told otherwise by Mu Beta.

Hmmm, the original criteria was BBC or british newspapers, but I will reluctantly agree that Icy gets points from Grace Lee.
However, we are trying to discourage the selection of people who are only notorious for being very, very old or very, very ill. I am therefore hoping that Icy North will surrender his bonus points as a gesture of goodwill.

Some non-UK players quit playing because of that rule.

A loss to the music industry

Met him in the seventies when working at the Hilton, he was pleasant and very nice to talk to made me feel like a Friend even though were ships in the night... hence the opening "a loss to the music industry"
