I thought that 'Consignia' still exists, but as a 'parent organisation' that only uses the Royal Mail and Post Office 'brands' publicly.

They did a similar thing with Salad Cream the other year. They said they were going to scrap it through poor sales...
...which brought on news stories, much wailing and gnashing of teeth...
...and raised sales for a product which never was scrapped (and the sceptical among us think it never was intended to be... )

It seems that Spangles died in the early 80's (the body twitched in 95 briefly though).
You had to eat them fairly quickly otherwise they became sticky and unwrapping them was a horrible tacky nightmare.

The mint ones were OK though.
I had a wonderful childhood when my uncle worked for Mars..
All those free Mars bars and Opal fruits.

Spangles I remember as almost being treated as a throat lozenge - they were usually cherry-flavoured, weren't they?

Old Jamaica? The wife brought me back a bar of it last week. Still available in Scotland evidently.
I know it disappeared for a few years, but it's been back in the UK for a while now It has a truly wondrous taste

Oooh cabana! Usually you get taste-a-likes of something once it is discontinued, but not cabana. Closest is a Bounty, but then again, not really. There was something gooey in the centre I seem to remember?

A block of Bounty-like coconut infused with pieces of cherry, topped with a layer of soft caramel and the whole enrobed in milk chocolate.
Last bar of Old Jamaica I bought was distinctly different to the original.

I missed replying when this was still on topic.
Snickers for me, but I have to admit being disappointed by Snickers Ice cream. Frozen peanuts are far too hard, and the ice cream part wasn't a bit like a snickers bar.
In comparison, Hagen Das Strawberry Shortcake Icecream is exactly what it says on the tin, actual chunks of shortcake and strawberries and frozen cream.
I also am very fond of Minstrels...

Mars or Snickers?
I guess it has to do with whether one has teeth or not, Snickers, perhaps, if one does, otherwise Mars. (Or Uno.)
Either is great taken before retiring to the sleeping bag for warding off wilderness camping hypothermia.

The Mars ice cream is lovely. Enough sugar in one spoon to give you diabetes but it's totally worth it. I've got a bit of an obsession with the Mars milkshakes too.
