I agree with Mala.

Let's get this idea discussed at a strategic level, get some requirements, then we can design how we're going to implement it.

Smileys are really better kept for the forums rather than in Edited Entries, unless there was a special reason.
It would be far better to have a list of informative 'blobs' that the authors or Editors could add.

One of the problems with smileys is that they are only allowed to be 16 pixels high. Do you know how small that is?

What Mala and Lanza have said, pretty much.

Making them as blobs would be the perfect way to do it - a) that would serve the purpose. b) It would make it slightly less of a chore. c) We've had quite a few smiley releases lately, so let's not get greedy.
(Personally I think smileys need a "bedding in" period to catch on, anyway - if too many come too soon, they often end up unused and overlooked. Poor wee smileys. )

Exactly, a bedding in period. Last December was a nicely balanced mix of new smileys and reversed old ones, which are curiously useful.

It was only a suggestion.
It was because I may be in Leeds in April, when my appointment finishes on the Friday, so may stay until the weekend.
Fortunately there is an entry in PR on Leeds.
See A87736657.
It would be really useful for me to know if it's worth travelling 2 miles to visit a venue or not.
Nothing worse than going somewhere, to find I can't access, or have limited access, to the venue. Especially if I've taken an hour to walk there!
But for the consideration.
Don't forget, the guide is intended for use, outside of Hootoozens! Dissies or not!

I think tags are better than symbols. In NZ a picture of a wheelchair is commonly used for disabled parking, but most people with mobility cards that allow them to use those parks don't use wheelchairs. It feeds into the general public's misunderstandings about what disability looks like.
Or, if you use symbols, make it specific. Eg a wheelchair symbol represents people in wheelchairs, not people with mobility issues. 'Disability' is a very wide range of things, and even with mobility issues it's still pretty broad.

Tags *and* commonly agreed symbols are probably a good idea.

Mala, I've just pointed out one of the shortcomings of commonly agreed symbols.

Yes, yes you have. That doesn't mean they're a bad idea in general, just that it needs clarification in the text, eg "ok for wheelchairs and prams", "no steps", "special tours for blind/partially sighted groups available", etc.

Actually, in the UK, the generic 'wheelchair' symbol appears to be the usual symbol for disability friendly in the UK, as it signifies it covers all impairments. The only one I believe that is further clarified, is induction looping for the deaf.
But maybe or 2legs can help on visual disability.
Certainly, as regards mobility, the 'wheelchair' symbol is my preferred choice!
