If you could genetically engineer any pet what would you like?

Mrs Zen

I'd actually love a giant tortoise.

Cheerful Dragon

A dragon (with wings and firey breath, not a lizard with 'dragon' in it's popular name) small enough to sit on my shoulder. It would have to be easy to house train (and train in other ways), and happy to eat almost anything.

sprout

A guinea pig crossed with one of those inflating fish (fugu?).

A flourescent labrador guide dog, to improve safety on dark winter evenings.

A cat with that gecko van de walle force thing, so it can walk on the ceiling.

Rev Nick - dead man walking (mostly)

Re: post 25 ... A lab sized cow? I'd have to teach my grandson how to milk it. My hands might be too large and insensitive now ... I think 'young Nick' (yes, that is his name) would have fun with that

before any budding geneticist thinks of stealing this idea, I came up with it with a local butcher and I've already discussed it with a swine reproduction specialist professor at the local university and he's also discussed it with his colleagues, so, it's not quite fair gamesmiley - winkeye

a genetically engineered pig which grows thin, closed ended tubes of intestinal tissue along its flanks, each of which is filled with fine bits of muscle tissue and fat and the essential oils of various herbs fed to the pig. This sort of animal would be a humane source of sausage over its entire, happy life-span.smiley - smiley

Next ask me about pig-friendly lard and government certified porcine liposuction technicians.smiley - winkeye

I wouldn't.

If I had that degree of control of the thing..I'd loathe and detest it...and send it to the vets immediately to be put down.

I was actually replying to the OP.

And when you watch one of those Star Trek series...I forget which...and they can get just what they want from some machine..exactly when desired..it makes my stomach heave.

There is something profoundly disgusting about it.
