What's Right With h2g2?

Waz, that's a brilliant metaphor! And a quote of the week contender (if whoever picks those is watching).

Let's not forget that for better or worse the BBC gave refuge to h2g2. Someone decided it was right for h2g2 at the time. The BBC never really saw it's potential as a social site. They left h2g2 alone provided h2g2 lived within BBC rules and their rules have survived.
The best thing about h2g2 is that it still performed under those restrictions that above all demanded respect.

Personalities and their odd interactions aside, this site rocks on. It's my second favourite place in the world after my bed on a rainy Sunday morning with a hot drink and a good book.
OK, maybe with a hot drink and my laptop opened to Hootoo....

I like the fact that people are actually developing the site now. Talking of which, pressing the space bar now appears to take me to the bottom of the page, and to the next page if pressed a second time. I've not seen this before, is it a new feature of h2g2?

Ooh, no, don't think it is. It does it on other sites too. Looks like a feature on the Opera browser. 'Tis , and makes browsing h2g2 a lot easier.

It's diamonds like LLWaz's image
of the picnickers on the minibus
with white rhinos tangoing past
un-noticed.

Awright, it has to be said ...
h2g2 is right and cool in that it (almost) annually sponsors a bikini competition. No, I can't really say that I am terribly 'wowwed' or 'ooooh-aaawwwed' at the sort of things that 2legs submits. But ... well, ya know ... It does give the place a uniqueness?

I am just so totally awed by LLWaz's post #20. Thanks!
The writers of our Entries need a great community to hang out in too, so it's good to have all the fun things in conversation threads, as well as the serious discussions and sometimes support we give each other here and there.
