kea ~ Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small, unregarded but very well read blue and white website

I think one of the tricky things about the situation with Effers is that she has both had nasty shit aimed at her, and disrupted the site at times, and perceived nasty stuff that wasn't there. It's complex.

I think we've identified that there are tensions amongst users that need to be worked out. Ideally between those researchers involved.
<<

Agreed. Although in my case the situation between me and Effers is essentially unresolvable (and outside of my control). I don't feel like that about anyone else though.

You have misunderstood. None of that paragraph was about Effers. I was not being funny. I was being serious. I was talking about others and I wanted to be clear. I have felt ganged up on threads here and it is not a pleasant experience.

This discussion has moved on from more general topics onto people's personal opinions about other specific Researchers.

We would prefer it if individuals were not discussed so that this thread does not fall into personal attacks. We may close the thread temporarily if this continues to allow everyone to cool off.

Right. I've caught up on the back log and I've lost interest.

Before I go, I would just like to make clear that I did not start this thread.

Now, I'll twitch my mantle blue . . .

Ideally, yes. But then, if a LOT of researchers have a problem with one researcher how would they do that? Open one thread on their PS and say their piece, open one thread each on their PS and say their piece? either way it would look very much like bullying and that would really not be a good thing.

Mr. D said "I'm just not sure that someone who was being actually bullied, with all the psychological damage that brings, would really be able to discuss it openly and calmly in a place they know the alleged bullies would be able to see it"

i agree when someone has been traumatized...
but
i wasnt...
when i was bullied here and i don't really have a problem discussing it where the 'alleged' bullies can see it... except to say that most of what i have tried to discuss, in the past, has gotten yikesed. so i would love to be able to learn how i could discuss it without being yikesed smiley - smiley

i think i have an idea what the psychological damage is but would love to hear it spelled out maybe in a little bulleted list? smiley - towel

Re: Post 144 (things do move fast here)

anhaga, your expressings in that single paragraph very much summed up the actions and ways that have been seen
(on this site) of Effers. It's all black and white text. No one can read between lines that are not even drawn. I was not
slanging at you, but it seemed such an oxymoron that it needed comment.

For the record, I have a strong measure of respect for anhaga and most of his opinions as I have seeen them

>>I just don't think they would solve the most pressing problems on h2h2 because they leave the problem makers to the people who don't use the ignore button.

That assumes that we all find the same people to be 'problems'. The beauty of 'ignore' is that you can use it for someone who you and you alone have a problem with. That way, posts are less likely to be 'yiksed' and the whole community could benefit.

i agree with quotes about an ignore button
i was on a site with one and it was very useful!
and it didnt interfere with the conversation, for me
it actually made the conversation easier to follow
once i had gotten rid of that person's postings

thats one Yes for an ignore button smiley - towel

It's not that he's too young. His DNA is 10,000 years old after all. It's that he's too, well, mammoth! A great big lumbering thing. Don't let the "little" fool you! Fourteen foot high at the shoulder, are mammoths.
