Pi is really only a human 'expression' of an
observed natural phenomenon. A circle, whether
as perfect as a Celtic craftsman can make it
or as natural as a wasps' nest, still has a
ratio of radius to diameter that relates to both
the circumference around it and the area
within it. One man's pi is a machine's
3.14 etc.

Although I would not describe myself as an artist [ maybe
] I do like to take photographs and have been complimented on them at times. It is usefull to read books that teach what helps to make a good photograph. The rule of thirds, leading the eye into a picture, the golden section. All help when composing a photograph. The viewer of the photograph obviously need know none of these 'tricks of the trade'. And will tell you "I know what I like" what they like of course, are photographs that conform to the rule book of what makes a pleasing photograph. Delibarately ignoreing the rules unsettles the viewer and can make for a photograph with more impact.
Just my thoughts on it.
