I can't believe that I am so much the exception that I was married a gooood long time before getting pregnant, and that I buy my little gifts or do nice things for him (not that ) "just because". Maybe I should change into a predatory female.
I _am_ actually a good catch (who just received a ginormous bunch of the flowery variety )

Saw a TV science documentary recently that claimed
humans were the only animals that enjoyed sex.
wtf
They went on to say we are the only species who ever
did it solely for pleasure.
It's at times like that I want to hurl stuff at the TV or
maybe take a few scientists out back for a quiet talk.
Scientists generally have difficulty distinguishing between
needs and desires. That's why they keep coming up with
carp we don't need and doing nothing to give us any real
or long-lasting satisfaction.

Methinks ~ jwf ~ has been unlucky in love with a scientist.

I thought the message was, money can't buy you love - it grows from doing things together. But I'm an old married woman who can barely remember falling love.

Bob, I love this place sometimes!!
Hoo makes some of the best and most incicive comments and then a debate and some jokes flow from them which make me 1) think; and 2) Laugh out Loud .
As it happens I am in Cardiff tonight (we all have our crosses to bear!) and my wife is in North Wales, 175 miles away. Our courtship was all of three weeks of sitting together in a TV lounge in a nurses home at the end of which I patted my lap during a conversation (about what I cannot remember) and she came and sat on it. I don't recall what was on telly after that (or before for that matter).
I ended my engagement to another girl a few weeks later.
That was 28 years ago and Valentines day has been a joke ever since.
We have lived together, married for most of the time with ups and downs since then, making compromises and agreeing (to differ on occasion) and being there for each other through thick and thin.
I totally get Hoo's point but it is not my experience.

It's a good job I'm not the google doodle man. For international women's day there's no way I'd have been able to resist making the o's into boobies. I'm a bad, bad man, shallow and not at all funny and very immature.

Today's (.com and .co.uk, at any rate) celebrates the birth of Eadweard Muybridge (originally Edward Muggeridge, but he changed his name). He's the man who used a series of cameras to prove that a horse does have all it's feet off the ground for an instant while galloping.
