My word! - have you seen the new Google Doodle, what?

Doesn't work which sounds like that might be the best thing really.
It means that I have to do what I'm paid for all afternoon.
Bummer.

This is WAY too easy. When you think you have the hang of it, try the advanced version. http://www.foddy.net/Athletics.html

I pusha the Starty button and a hand came up wigggling
two fingers at me. The back of the hand! I have been
told this gesture is similar to the American middle-finger.
The athlete moved forward slowly knocking over a bunch of
hurdles and 39.8 seconds later he stopped, slumped over and
sighed as if he thought I was a total idjit.
He's right of course but he didna have to be so rude.

Cheers BG.
Do you have any connection to the recent Mars landing?
Please point me to any of your posts or entries if you
have been discussing it. The h2g2 News thread has ignored
this monumental event entirely and keeps prattling on about
UK politics. DNA would be so proud.
Congratulations NASA.
Congratulations USA.

No, I'm not involved with Mars Curiosity, other than being a big fan of it. As with most interplanetary probes and unmanned platforms like the Hubble, that's all handled out of JPL in California for the most part. I exclusively work with photography (film) from manned missions. For the next couple of years I'll continue to work on some rather dull but important imagery from the last three Apollo missions. I stare at panoramic mapping images of the lunar surface. (It's all grey... all of it.) Here's some information about it. http://apollo.sese.asu.edu/index.html

We're discussing it here - sort of. UK politics? God how boring...the coalition are trying to turn us all Blue Peter big society. Nuff said.
I'm sure TriG would welcome you.

For the record I never tried the advanced system but
I got the main Google doodle page down to 14.1 seconds
with no dropped hurdles. I imagine any improvement on that
would require more practice than I am willing to give.
Having said that I did try again and got down to 13.5 but
I dropped one hurdle. So I guess a low 13 perfect run is
within the realm of possibility.

OK I decided to give BG's link a try:
http://www.foddy.net/Athletics.html
I ended up falling on my arse minus -.4 meters
behind the start-line with one leg wrapped up
around my neck obviously broken in three places.
That laugh was enough to satisfy me.

What is truly amazing is there is a hurdle and a jump down the track... and some one has actually managed to reach the end! (He did it on one knee the whole way.)
Search for "Best QWOP run" to see some examples of truly epic athletics.

I suppose y'all have been keeping up with the daily doodle. Yesterday was basketball (meh). Today is kayaking. (I ran over a few fish(?)).

Kayaking, aye.
Very counter-intuitive to use Left/Right arrows
to move up and down on the screen. I abandoned
my first run on the left bank.
That basketball yesterday was quite clumsy.
There seemed to be no way to adjust the throw
and I never figgered out what the red balls meant.
Kept getting a score of 10 no matter how many balls
I got off - then I got 12 and wandered off.

On the basketball, you just had to hold the space bar down longer for a longer shot. On the kayaking I found it quite intuitive as each push of the arrow key is a stroke on each side of the kayak. If you want to turn hit the same arrow multiple times rather than alternating. I actually managed to get a gold on the basketball; haven't done so on the kayaking yet.
