h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

My original h2g2 personality (to which I am ashamed to admit that the dang email-password combo for that iteration of my online self has long since been shuffled into non-existent backup-backup memory) has a U number of 33247 since I came over from alt.fan.douglas-adams once Douglas posted about this site coming online (insert reminiscing of Usenet here).

I've never met anyone from this site, but I've chatted with some very interesting people (mostly) and some not so much (rarely). I think it's like any other social gathering area, though this one has aspirations of passing along useful and relatively accurate information with a twist on the traditional: there will be waves of people and interest, peaks and troughs, and that also has a lot to do with that annoying thing called real life (I've always liked the term "meat life" for some reason).

Anyhoo ... ya just never know when someone'll pop in to say 'hi' or just slouch about.

"Sock puppet" now there's a phrase I haven't seen used in a while, suprisingly on here as we have so may 'flamers' and 'trolls'
