And of course since then we've had Djokovic step up to the plate.
No chance of either him or Nadal getting too old - so he's just going to have to play better.
Damn good effort today though. Unlike some, I am still going to cheer on the best british male tennis player in 70 odd years.

I thought he made a good effort, but when Federer is on form, he's like a steamroller.
I thought it was a great match, not all finals are that good.

Well, I think last night will silence all the doubters and get a monkey off his back. What a match!! He beat the world number one on Djokovic's favoured hard surface and he did it by being better then him. Both players were undoubtedly at their best and Murray prevailed - what an incredible match. At times I could hardly breathe during the game!

I wish I had Sky Sports
I've had to be content with the highlights on BBC News, but I am so happy for Murray. What a year.

I've got Sky Sports and sky Go - what annoyed me about Sky Go was that the Murray match wasn't available and so I couldn't watch it under the bedclothes on my phone once we'd gone to bed as he lost the third set.
So I got back up and watched it on the Telly.
Well I said he'd have to beat Djokovic, Nadal or Federer to win one - and there we have it. He did, Woo Hoo.
I wonder how many fairweather supporters will be on the side of the 'loser' now

Just been welling up a bit reading this
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/18726985
I've followed first Henman then Murray for many years now hoping for a british Slam winner and if it's brining me to near tears thinking about it all, what must it be like for him?
Just one issue with that article. Bjorn Borg, charismatic? The man never gave even a hint of a personality.

Terrific result. I really wouldn't want to be the person deciding this year's SPOTY - between Murray, Wiggins, and McIlroy there's a real cluster of brilliant world beating sportsmen about these days.

Not been a bad year has it.
Wiggo v Murray for me - both had historic wins in events not traditionally won by Brits. Both Olympic champions also.
Tough choice.
Of course if Pendleton can win Strictly...

Hmmm, I just looked up the ATP rankings and he looks to be far too far behind both Federer and Djokovic to even get to two as far as I can tell. Still what I saw might have been inaccurate.

2000 &3000 points behind Federer and Djokovic with only 1000 available to be gained (or lost) at a Masters 1000 series event.
Still, the same article says 3 is is highest ever ranking. Er no, he got to number 2 for a few weeks a few years back. So that might all be horseradish. I'll wait to see the official rankings.

Anyone else seen remember Monty Python episode where a bunch of Alien Blancmanges turn everyone in the world into Scotsmen? The reason being that it was a nefarious attempt to win Wimbledon - Scotsmen are well known to be bad at tennis y'see...

Alien Blancmange? Wasn't he the East Stirlingshire left back?
