E-Book readers (or when can I buy a 'Guide'?)

Nah, I think they'll release it as soon as they can, but it may be a limited release until then. They've sent a few hundred out through their Early Adopter Program. Technically they're just licensed to those users since they can't "buy" them until after their official release at which time the EAP users can buy them outright.

Interesting article on the Googleblog about Gingerbread and Honeycomb:

I'm nowhere NEAR as techy as the rest of you, but this sounds really outstanding!

With only one day (according to almost completely confirmed, all but official rumor) to go before presales for the Adam, they tease me with this image on their blog.
http://notionink.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/adam.jpg

On their official website they have the picture linked below. Apple does this thing with the time displayed on their devices. In official photos and adverts, they display the time that the device was first presented to the public (by some turtleneck wearing übernerd).

What are the folks at Notion Ink telling us?

This morning: http://notionink.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/preordernow1.jpg

Apparently, at some point they realized this picture was a bit misleading and had to resize the on screen graphic causing endgadget to cry foul. http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/09/notion-ink-adam-gets-caught-photoshopping-its-bezel-away/

Seriously?

Anyhoo, that "preorder now" is still a bit premature. The blog post says it will still be a few hours from now (whenever "now" was).

The anticipation is heavy, black and pendulous.

OK... here's the long awaited blog post. http://notionink.wordpress.com/2010/12/09/fiat-lux/

This is worth checking out because it shows some great detail shots of the Adam's interface and also lists a lot of other specs. They also have the final pricing breakdown ($375 - $550).

Well, I just bought a pig in a poke.

I'm now officially either an Early Adopter or a fool.

I shall listen with interest. I really love my Advent Vega, but it is obviously a device of its price range.

If the pixel QI screen means the Adam passes muster as a proper ereader then I am getting one when they come out in blighty.

Well, I may be quite fortunate for having preordered in the wee hours this morning. Apparently they've already (pre)sold out of all the PixelQI versions.

My toy will do me for a bit and I will get to get some low down form others.

Also the price on these sort of things tends to come down after a bit so I might wait until April/May or so and see what the Market looks like then.

There seems to be a bit of a backlash against Notion Ink over all of this in the Android community...

Have you actually given them money?

I'm not getting warm and fuzzy feelings about this.
I'm hoping this is just a case of growing pains for a young company. But I will be watching my account balance carefully for the next two months.
