OK AR80 - We have to be careful. h2g2.com was launched in April 1999, and the BBC took over the running of the site in February 2001.
With the blessing of the BBC we could in the future have a long serving h2g2 Centurion.
You and I are probably a bit too late, but someone joining now at the age of 18 could make it around the real age of 60. Anyone in at the start who survived the take over and susequent sign ins could make it by the age of 80. smiley - cheers

Dear Gnoman,

Have you got the date that I joined then.? You remember we met at the lovely afternoon at Hyde Park I think it was in the days that I had still not forgotten my first password and I was still AlsoRan. I believe you took a photo of my son and I. I became Alsoran1, and then had a variety of names, until I went back to AlsoRan80. and on the 23rd May 2010 the 80 should change to 82. I am glad that Trillian;s Child was so clever as to find that table for you. I remember you mentioning it.
Thank you for your help.

Hi AB,

I had a wonderful time travelling around all my old names and sites yesterday.

As I mention vaguely, in the beginning there were a couple of researchers who felt that I was too old for the site. I did object a bit, and fortunately , as I have stated I had marvellous support from several people including pheloxi.

it will be the anniversary of his death next month. I do not know enough about this site, to organise anything ,bue he was such a wonderful person, and I know that a whole lot of people organised an In Memorium page for him when he died last year. Perhaps it could be done again.

anyway, AB, it was actually on nov. 5th 2001, that the also ran1 was created. So AlsoRan must have been created before that. But I have no idea when. I do know that DNA was still alive when I joined. And so I hurridly bought and read the Hitchikers Guide, as my only contact with science fiction had been Jules Verne. Abd that was old hat.

Lovely to chat to you.

Kind regards

Christiane.

In round terms you have 63 real life years with 7 years in h2g2.
This just gets you in as an h2g2 Septuagenarian. Keep lurking smiley - ok

Hi Hapi, Hippo,

How are you.

I have decided to ride in the Paris to Nice bicycle race. !! It is always very exciting and I love the country that we ride through. !!

It is not too tiring because I do it watching TV. !!

I have had a beautiful quiet weekend. the weather has perked up and I was expecting someone to lunch. Unfortunately she could hot come so I had a marvellous roast chicken plus super veggies and pudding which I would not have cooked for myself. so now I ,ust think of how I can use up a large roast chicken all week. !!

probably take it to my son tomorrow so that he can eat it up. !1

With much affedction

A six figure 'U' Number with an h2g2 age just over 35.
We have a potential h2g2 centurian. A little 'lurk' may be in order.

Hi Happi Hippo

Sad;y, being in a wheelchair makes any activity rather difficult to do. I do actually not have foot rests on my ordinary wheelchair so when |I go out I generally sort of walk along the pavements. I think that helps the blood supply to my legs. ""

!!

However, now that |I have invested in a an electric scooter which zoom along on the esplanade I feel really good. It is really a very comfortable scooter and |I can zoom along at a rate of knots. The problem is that I first have to manovre getting into a lift, then |I have to unlock the front ddor of the building. Them somehow I have to get off my scooter in order to open the outside door, so it is boing to be difficult for me to go out unescorted. !!

My adventure with my new carer was catastrophic. I was doing all the usual work I have always done What a strnage lady, she never thought of doing amything for me. !! She is coming back today and \i have asked her please to take her things away and go. I much prefer to be on my own. I shall get a "person walker" ( like one they have for dogs!!) and pay her to take me for a walk several times a week.

Go well,

Christiane

Just keep on going smiley - smiley I recognise quite a lot of your attitude and you are definitely not batty smiley - smiley in fact a long way from batty. ( a friend just mentioned that Batty lives elsewhere in HooToo .. and that you're not her )

The electric scooter thing sounds like a brilliant idea, apart from opening and closing the doors smiley - erm sounds like it is something to get used to, find the best way to manoeuvre..
smiley - smiley cruising along the esplanade brings over a sort of Easy Rider type of image smiley - biggrin keep doing that !!
