Dear ancient Brit,
Well, I had always thought that I was the oldest researcher on theis website.
I bow to you dear friend. I see that you will be celebrating your 82 birthday in December.
My profound apologies to claiming something to which I had no right. !!
I am going to try and find your homepage. i think we have actually "met" before. I am 82 on 23rd May 2010 DV.
Today is a very thought-provoking day. AS I get older I am becoming to realise more and more the futility of war, and the decimation of the the flower of our youth who lose their lives.
Sad that we have not yet learnt to live in peace and harmony. we just seem to be intent on blowing ourselves ooff and out of this planet we live on.
With many greetings and again my sincere apology for claiming something to which I had no right. Mea culpa!!
Sincerely,
Christiane M.E.

Please don't apologize. You are certainly one of the oldest fully active and respected researchers. What's in a month or two. Let's share. There may be others. We could form an octogenarian club. A59257092

Hi AB,
I am now going to set to and cook myself some lunch. then off by taxi to visit my son.
It is grey and cold, and I am wondering if I have the courage to go in my wheelchair to buy some fruit for my son. it will be bitter outside.
What a wet I am becoming. !
May I please put you down as a friend and then we can work out how to form the Gerontology Forum/Club/Association(exclusive!!)
Go well
Christiane.

Hi AB.
How art thou?
Have you had a good day?
It really is freezng here. I am sure that the wind comes straight down from the North Pole via Siberia. !!
Today was market day - bought some pressies for the g-grandchildren to find under the tree. I enjoyed choosing them and being reminded of my children's Christmas.
This year I doubt we shall have anyone with us. I hope that K. will be back home.
I have a lovely very tall granddaughter who is a mechanical engineer coming to spend next weekend. She is just starting being the projects engineer for the second wind farm being constructed by the firm who employs her. She is such a darling and such fun. I wish she could find womeone nice to treasure her
I am really peeved becaise when she first came to the UK from australia she could not find a post here. And so she went to Holland. There she was welcomed with open arms and what is more she has learnt to speak Dutch/Hollands.
Go well,
Christiane Ar80

Good to hear from you AlsoRan80 I've had a quick lurk around your PS. You have a certainly lived and been around a bit, both in RL and Hootoo. Unlike you I have stuck to the simple site name that I chose when I first joined although I have kept updating my PS as I went along. I think all my activities since I joined in Aug. 2002 can be found on U197657. I have found five 'U'numbers for you :- AlsoRan80 - U12340544 : The one in current use AlsoRan2 - U10783351 : A big number for a Two year old

Very dear Ancient Brit.
I did not realise the importance of my password, and although I always remebered my it - I have been an AlsoRan all my life - i.e second at everything, even been a wife and a step mother!! - I constantly forgot number. I am pretty sure that I joined before DNA died. as I remember hearing about his death, after I had just read the book.
I always felt that I had joined under sort of "false pretences" as the science fiction that I had read was Jules Verne. !!
It is so kind of you to taka all that trouble. I think that probably I kept turning up like a bad penny. And also I have never really contributed literally, literally speaking, to the website in that I have never tried writing for publiscation. I think I am going to try now, and hopefully then perhaps the powers that be will permit me to become a fully accepted researcher.
Thank you so very much for all your kindness. Life has been a bit tough this last week. My son was admitted to the hospital. He is well, and stabilitzed but in the course of events I believe that my sanity has been questioned. I really could not care, but I have a very dear friend who fortunately is much younger than I am and she cares for oldies like me. she will keep me out of problem areas, thank goodness.
Thank you for all that work that you have done on my behalf.
go well and tell me a little bit about yourself.
I am really quite certain that I am going to get LOST during the changeover. !! I have absooutely no idea how to do it. I have a freind who is good at computers anhd who may understand what I have to do woth the id etc. etc.
I think that my brain goes into reverse.
go well dear friend.

I wouldn't bother too much about the new sign up business.
As far as I understand our h2g2 data and records will survive us.
There are those around who will always help you just as long as you remember your current sign in details and in particular your password.
Sorry I set you off bothering about it.
With regard to the h2g2 age, whilst I am older than you I am going to yield to your seniority because length of time with h2g2 needs to be taken into account.
Let's agree that h2g2 age has to be determined that by Real Life age + Length of time with h2g2. At this moment in time that would give you an h2g2 age of 89 years and 6 months and me an age of 89 years and 2 months.
On that basis we'll put the question - Are you an H2g2 Octogenarian ? to Ask H2G2.

Oh my dear AB,
So fortunate!. So due to your magnificent calculations I am six months oler thab you.
Does that mean that we can have our 90th birthday together?
Luverlee!!
I hope that you have had a good weekend. I had a lovely weekend. I have found the most super lady taxi driver who takes me to visit K. twice a week. Heis as happy as Larry in the ward. He is popular wit the staff, popular with the patients and obviously loves having people around him. He is a very gregarious person. It really is the nicest ward he has ever been in.
So the staff gave us a very nice little "quiet" room to be in and he ate all the goodies which I had cooked and brought to him. Howeer, he tires of my company after about half an hour which suits both of us. !!
Go well dear friend of mine,
Christiane

Very dear AB
I have just been to the first AR1 and the story of me is much more interestingf than anything that I have done for the last 25 years.
I had a wonderful youth - as I see, I saw Sikorsky himself flying the first "autogyro" at the Air display at Le Touquet. My Papa iontroduced me to the wonderuful french airman Mermoz. who first flew across the Atlantic from Daka to Bueonos Ayres I think it was.
Nothing can touch those things.
I was introduced to Lord and Lady Baden Powell, and presented Lady baden Powerll with a bouquet when they visited south Africa. I was a French Brownie. !!!
My early life has been so much more excieitn than my older life which was all involved in anti apartheid and jail and deomostrations and fighting the government.
I hjave settled down now and ma living my life out peacefully in a lovely seaside town overlooking my wonderful country France. !!
It really pains me when I hear the Brits going on about how they loathe France. Why on eath do they? We do not loathe them.
Strange.
Anyway, I am now going to go and make myself some lunch. I do hope that we have a chance to meet before I curl up my toes. What about the London meet.? Does anyone ever think of that? I really do not think I can grace a pub in a wheelchair. Would much prefer what we had the one and only meet I attened which was in Regents?Hyde Park with marvellous games of rounders by all the men.
Sincerely,
Christiane
