They are not oppressed. They wear all body tents and are treated like cattle because the mullahs say so. The Qu´ran doesn´t have anything to make it law, but the unlearned have no choice but to believe illiterate "scholars".

Says the person who goes on and on about their imaginary friend...

>>Haven't you got any mature contribution to offer?<<

I'm pointing out that you're a lying, child-beating hypocrite. That's as mature as I feel the need to be with you.

If you don't like people reminding you of the fact that you are abusive towards your own kith and kin, why did you proclaim it proudly a few months ago?

smiley - ok

As an aside... but kind of related.

I have a friend.
His name is 'Andy', I'll not give his surname for obvious reasons.

I'm pretty-sure he exists, as sure as I am that I exist, or the people I'm talking to on this thread exis... actually more sure he exists than people on this thread, as I've met him, talked to him, been to the pub with him.

In many ways andy is very simular to a lot of my friends. He liked his music. He liks having a drink. He smokes.

There is one thing which sets him apart from most of my friends though.

He is Jesus.
I'm not joking.
seriously.
He is the son of God, jesus the savior.

Or, at least, so he thinks from time to thime, when his medication isn't working as well as it may.

As far as he is concerned he is* Jesus. When he's thinking this he is, to all measures as he can make, Jesus.

Of course, clearly he's not.

or is he.

clearly he's not.

or is he.

clearly he's not.

only, of course, he is.

Just because you are not in agreement with 'corporeal punishment', is no reason for behaving childishly,
accusing me of being 'a child abuser' etc. smiley - doh

I was 'abused' when I was younger; (although I probably deserved 'a slap'), nobody deserves say, alcohol-fuelled serious bodily harm ...

You should try getting things into perspective.

>I'm saying that mankind doesn't KNOW all the truths of the universe.>
Agreed. Call it a work in progress.

>We do know, however, that some people claimed there's a Divine Creator.<
Quite so, many people and nations all down the ages of ignorance and still they persist in the face of reason and without any shred of evidence.

>And that we have scripture to ponder/study ...<
Written by those same people with nary a shred of anything that doesn't betray the human authorship.

>The basic truths of the universe. You don't know them all, of course ... NOBODY does.<
Your point being?

>You can suggest to me that there is no such thing as 'immaterial' or (as material is equivalent to energy) nothing exists except in a form of energy, and so on.
Are you saying that you know all forms of energy in existence???<

This is getting repetitive. I hope your getting to the point and soon...

>I try to put the 'jig-saw pieces' together (with Divine help/sincerity)<

I'll can accept you might think your efforts are sincere but what divine help have you received. Have you spoken with god recently? What does he sound like?

>Try to see 'the bigger picture'<
And if the 'bigger picture' just says 'no creator' what will ou do then? Embrace this tantalising possibility or live in denial?

Good one, warner! So you accept stupid despots for everybody because you grew up under one? You´re old enough to find friends and you are on hootoo - find some who don´t make their doctrines your law.

I don't think so smiley - erm

"truths of the universe"
I reckon that people should try not to 'put themselves in a box', and see one subject as science and another subject as being totally unrelated, such as philosophy.

ALL subjects are in fact related, if by nothing more than the fact that we can comprehend them, and 'label' them.
eg. Geography is related to science and economics etc.

WHAT IS THE UNIVERSE? - that's philosophical isn't it - and there's no one binary logical answer!

>>Just because you are not in agreement with 'corporeal punishment', is no reason for behaving childishly,
accusing me of being 'a child abuser' etc<<

The actions you described went beyond mere corporal punishment: you boasted of prolonged mental and physical abuse of your children. That you spoke of it *with pride* (and you used those exact words) to complete strangers is worrying.

I know people who use corporal methods against their children, but they don't proclaim it, they don't tell all and sundry as if it is something to be proud of. That mentality, in my *professional* opinion, speaks of a pathology of abuse.

If a parent came to me and spoke, as you have, of the disciplinary measures they used against their kid, I would get social services involved. Your account was disturbing in the extreme on both personal and professional levels.

>>You should try getting things into perspective.<<

You should try hitting someone your own age/size. Or better yet, go to anger management or parenting classes.

That doesn't sound very likely!
What should I want to do that for?? smiley - erm
Perhaps you could remind us all, and 'dig it out' from old threads.

Incidentally, why are you being so personal? You're attitude and conduct does NOT seem particularly 'professional' to me.
I'm not one of 'your parents' who you seem to despise so much.
You want to try working WITH people instead of feeling so self-righteous and superior.

I should have got out of this thread long ago, because I´m laughing so loud my neighbours might mind.

"feeling so self-righteous and superior."

You only answer to whatever suits you - the quote above is my answer. Sorry if I stop talking to you like to a person above kindergarten age.

How would I know what was going through your head when you posted?

>>Perhaps you could remind us all, and 'dig it out' from old threads.<<

You've made thousands of posts of varying degrees of inanity and in some of the densest threads on hootoo. I can't be bothered going back through them.

>>Incidentally, why are you being so personal? You're attitude and conduct does NOT seem particularly 'professional' to me.<<

Either you don't know what professional means, or you don't realise hootoo isn't my job. I'm not being professional, I'm under no obligation to be - luckily for you/unluckily for your kids I don't work with your family.

>>You want to try working WITH people instead of feeling so self-righteous and superior.<<

You want to try looking in a mirror before you make comments like that.

sorry, warner, but I remember it, too. We had quite a long conversation about how you 'disciplined' your children.

So, two witnesses (both male). Is that enough for conviction?

Proverbs 13:24 and Proverbs 23:13 if memory doth serve.

You and (was it Royal Crompton that time?) ganged together to try and defend those awful passages with something long the lines of 'in hebrew it means a lash or whip' To which everybody here rightly were aghast at the apparent disregard for welfare on display about the physical abuse of children as mandated by scripture.

>>Nah - there's a pattern. Aint that so, O' Prophet?<< Indeed there is, St Clive the Winged. Though he seems to be somewhat off-balance at the moment so it's been disrupted. As for proof of warner's quotes: in early February on the 'Jesus is coming back' thread it is alluded to, and warner explicitly states what he'd do to a rebellious daughter: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/alabaster/F19585?thread=5985941&skip=2380&show=20 There's a couple of pages of relevant posts - from 2350 to around 2500. I'm guessing warner's actual description of abuse is in a parallel thread. to check the 'Almighty God' thread
