I'll be digging out my PS2 to play some Hitman soon.

Also, is professional help required when you walk past a church and within a few seconds have worked out the route Ezio would take to get to the top of it? Or should it be written that one shouldn;t replay all the Assassin Creed games in quick succession over a couple of weeks?

We're doing that Alfster (playing through the games again, not walking past churches pretending we're Ezio) We never actually finished Revelations so we've not started playing 3 yet (although hubby's using the bookmark)

Well that's your problem if you are not 'as one' with the character you won't finish it...'release your inner free-runner'

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk

I have two unplayed games on my shelf: 'Assassins Creed II' and 'Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes'. I have been advised to take the AC series in narrative order, and the first is still £8.50, so that can wait for a month or two. I won't be starting until next year, but I known which I'll take when I do.

Saboteur is a criminally un-rated/unknown game. I played it through twice back-to-back and could happily play it again.

Bob: Don't be 'put off' by Assassin Creed 1's slightly repetitive and sprawling nature - I wasn't overly but had played AC2 before it so knew how the mission set-ups had changed. AC1 is a very good game and the makers tried to make the missions feel like how one would research a target and then go for the kill...but it got a bit samey for some. They improve that aspect of the game in the second one.

I've probably already said this in the backlog but, Mafia 2 was a cracking game. The best bit? Trying to drive off the side of the freeway and land on a lowish building to get the last of the wanted posters. Took me ages.

Finished the main story in Far Cry 3. And not for this first time this year I thought, great game, shame about the end.

In fact i'd say 2012 has been the year of games where the devs fecked up the ends of games.

All this talk of Saboteur reminded me that I'd only just started that game before getting distracted by something else (work maybe). So went back to that this weekend and it's great fun. I completely fail at stealth on each mission though, and end up having to wipe out the entire base each time. smiley - winkeye Top tip: seize the AA gun in the parc des buttes chaumonts and go crazy - they won't come in to the park to attack you so you can safely shoot towers, tanks, zeppelins, etc. until there are too many planes shooting at you and then you can see if you can make a getaway and get the 'Europe's Most Wanted' perk. smiley - smiley

I used the AA gun on top of the glass topped building - it meant only Zeppelins could get at you and you simple kept rotating at such a speed that the game respawned a zeppelin just before you turned into that sector.

Didn't know about the wanted posters I basically just did the story and didn't do any side stuff. A superb game that really did take the form of an immersive film. There were some 'moans' that it was too linear aftr all these sandbox games but that didn't bother me as I got caught up in the story and a brilliant ending too.

I've just recently played Duke Nukem, land of the babes. Still enjoyable.
I also found the first Tomb Raider hidden among my games so I'm
tempted to give it a go for old times sake.

Actually, no, make that a completist. I just had to breed, raise and race enough Chocobos in FFVII so I could get a gold one and walk over the water and obtain Knights of the Round (the FMV was quite stunning for the time even though they didn't do that much damage)

It's actually quite satisfying when you've got everything you possibly can out of a game. It'll take me a good long while with Tales of Vesperia, mind, all the characters need to learn all the cooking recipes, for example and that takes up shed loads of playing time. Fight a monster, cook, fight another monster, cook etc and you can only cook one recipe after each fight.

Presumably on JRPGs doing **everything** you could do would take ages.

Closest I have come on a WRPG was on Oblivion. I must have played that north of 500 hours. I reckon there are still things i missed mind.

I think it was about 250 hours on FFVII.

I'm 87 hours into Vesperia, not finished the main quest yet, but I believe you can start an New Game plus with all your upgrades - I'll have to do that because I missed scanning some of the mosters that are only available at certain points during the game.

For things like this I usually buy a guide for a second playthrough because, although the info is available on the interwebs, you can't beat have a proper paper copy in your hand so don't miss anything accidentally. I will *not* be doing this for Vesperia, the guides are upwards of £45 last time I checked.

I dunno, GameFAQs and my Nexus 7 work pretty well when I feel completest.
