Play Dishonored **NOW**

I have just finished Dishonored.

Wow, no thinking about that it ought to be **WOW**

It is quite simply a masterpiece. Possibly, perhaps probably, the greatest computer game I have ever played. You know that feeling you get when you have just left the cinema having watched a wonderful film that fills you with joy because you have just seen something you knew was fantastic? I feel like that having just finished the game.

I think this is a game that non gamers could, maybe should play. It is just wonderful, magnificent. I had high expectations and it didn't just meet them it smashed them.

Anyone who has even a passing interest in games please buy and play it ASAP. I so want this game to be a massive success. It is wonderful.

PLAY IT!

I'm playing the Special Edition remake of The Secret of Monkey Island. You can switch back to the good old 8bit, but I'm mostly playing the remake because of the improved controls and graphics.

My only complaint so far is that Guybrush looks terrible, and Elaine even more so! She used to be a pretty cool, tough woman, now she's turned into this Barbie princess smiley - rolleyes

Just Bob aka Robert Thompson, plugging my film blog cinemainferno-blog.blogspot.co.uk

In between Civ 3 (I'm on my fourth play-through now, as the Incas in a mostly-ocean archipelago world) I'm playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, which I got as part of the PS3 package 2 years ago. I've been mainly using the strategy of picking a 'team leader' and cycling through the other characters and playing each one until I get an opportunity to do the big combo-attack between the two of them. The combos strike me as the most interesting aspect of the gameplay, as they are tailored to the characters and how they might be able to combine their powers, and I'm keen to see as many of them as possible.
It also means I get to level up all the characters equally as I go. I know that you're kinda supposed to pick a favoured group and concentrate on levelling them if you want to be able to go toe-to-toe with the most difficult bosses, but it feels somehow 'unfair' to me to leave some of them behind. Especially since, for all I know, some characters who are weaker earlier on may become badass as they level up.
Anyway, there seem to be two main routes through the game, so I've just started my second play-through, to see all the other stuff that I missed first time.

That's quite some review, FB. Dishonoured was also on my list, but the lure of returning to Xcom was too great. I've got a free copy of Civ that came with the Xcom pre-order, so I expect I'll give that a go next - haven't played any of the Civ games since having a PS1 version.

I did like what I've heard/seen about Dishonoured, especially about multiple ways to complete objectives....

Heh heh, the cold sobre light of reflection has not yet made me move an iota.

However the proof in the pudding will be in replay value. I still can thoroughly enjoy playing Zelda: Link to the Past, Tie fighter, Deus Ex, Civ 2 etc even though the gaming world has moved one. One can never tell for sure but even if Dishonored slips a little from the top of my list I am sure it will be there or there abouts. It is a tremendous game.

Just finished Sleeping Dogs which turned out to be a better game that I expected.
It's a bit of a GTA clone in some respects but the storyline and dialogue
lifts it. Had a bit of trouble with the fight moves at first but it was
enjoyable once I mastered it. There are a couple of missions to do so I will
finish them off and then load up Resi Evil 6.
It was a toss-up between RE6 and Dishonored and I agonised for a bit but
I've played all the Resi games apart from 5 so Dishonored is my fallback
if RE6 disappoints.

Everyone I know who has played RE6 reckons it is rubbish and the worst in trhe series since Resi 3

I dunno, FB, I like Resi 6, the differing perspectives, the pure accessiblility it of it for newbies (one of my children had never played it before)...

Dishonoured is a cracking game, though, LoveFilm won't be getting it back for a bit smiley - winkeye

How right you were FB. Resi 6 is turning out to be a disappointment.
I'm getting p**sed off with the button prompts during fights etc.
I can see this going back soon.

You should have taken my advice from post 961 smiley - winkeye.

Dishonored is, if nothing better, then by far the best game released this year. IM(not so H)O

Just finished ME3 and really enjoyed it - not sure what all the fuss was about re the ending. It was marginally disappointing, but I'm not sure it could ever have been anything but after all that.

Also been playing a little bit of a couple of games that were going cheap on Steam, namely Metro 2033 (so far, a bit meh although I love the setting) and STALKER: Shadows of Chernobyl (which looks great, but only played a tiny bit so far). Maybe Borderlands 2 or Dishonoured next, although perhaps I should wait and see if I can persuade someone to fork out for xmas. smiley - smiley

bf and I have played Hitman - Blood Money during the last few days. Really good, we loved it. The only flaw is that I can't get 'Ave Maria' out of my head now (they play it every time you start the game). smiley - headhurts The ending was surprising and really good. We're looking forward to the new part being published in a month.

It's worth playing all the Hitman games they are superb. The earlier ones have less methods of finishing the hits e.g. by making them llok just like an accident but they are still wonderful. Someone actually worked out how to do al of them in one game with only killing the main target with the cheese-wire.

Slightly worried about the next one - I think they have put a more shooty bang bang element into it.

I'll not be pre-ordering it.

Looking at the trailers we're also not so sure about the next one although the gameplay previews look good. It may be just the trailers that are more shooty bang bang.

There have been rumblings for a while even the makers have said things about it changing focus.

Have also been playing a cheap Steam purchase - Great Big War Game - quite good, they've put the focus on the gameplay, and you've got time to think (turn based).

GBWG is excellent. I have it on Android and it is great fun on my tablet.

Between that and Xcom turn based strategy is making a come back! Boom!

I much prefer TBS to RTS, but I would quite like a port of Command and Conquer for Android to come out at some point.
