Looks like you would have to hurry if you want to place a bet. CNN has seen white smoke and heard the bells...

Harking back to the first page of this thread, Pope on a Rope:http://www.asos.com/product.asp?sku=BGINO6087 (I especially like the "Europe/US Size Conversion"....)
I used to work at the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology where the North American Popemobile is stored (for use whenever the Pope was in the Western Hemisphere). It is on display until it is needed for Papal visits.
There was a couple who used to work at the Museum (by "used to" I mean were there when I worked there. They may still work there, though God knows why) who were well-known for having romantic "interludes" in highly inappropriate places... in the trains, on top of buses in the storage facility, behind displays, etc..... They were caught once, "doing it" in the Popemobile.
Oh.... I just noticed a Pope has been elected.... for it to have taken under 1 week, you have to wonder if the "fix" was in... I know that was what they were saying in the press yesterday.
They are just about to have the Pope come out on the balcony... I'll bet its Ratzinger... It is... He has chosen Benedict.

I thought it would it be him, and I thought he would call himself Benedict. I wish now that I'd put a bet on. Damn

How did you come to that conclusion? Some historical reason that Ratty wants to make?

I hope his first order of business is to turf out the abusers using the Vatican as their place of asylum (will that lkeave the place empty, do you think?).

So... now that there's a new pope and the vatican has acknowledged (if not atoned) the abuses of many priests... Do you think they'll let Sinead O'Connor back on Saturday Night Live?
Nevermind.. that's just way to serious a question for this thread..
I say we ignore the name Benedict and just call him Pope-Secret.

Do you think this new pope will ride round on a Vespa saying "Chiao" instead of just waving from the popemobile?

I doubt it. He is German.

So it is pope Ratty.
It seems that "the machine gun of the Lord" (as German newspapers once called him) has joined the armed forces of the holy white smike once more, this time a member of the construction crew, specializedd in building bridges.
Pope Ratty, Ben-addict (U500175 should like that), Pope Ratzefatz, Pope Bennywise, Pope Rotz (German for snot), Pope... stopmestopmestopmesto

Well I thought someone said the new pope was a Rasta - now THAT would be a turn-up for the books!
I only learned today that there was a Pope Hilarius from 461-468. If we can't have Pope Fonzie, why can't we have another Pope Hilarius?
