As a child of the 70's and 80's I loved Rainbow, Battle of the Planets, the hugely long German-dubbed-into-English version of Heidi, White Horses (I had a toy horse I called Boris), Blue Peter, Willo the Wisp and Bagpuss I got on video which my Daugher has now, Rentaghost even my mum liked that she wouldn't let me watch TISWAS I had to watch Swap Shop. I liked all the sunday tea time dramas of childrens classics like, Five Children and It, the Phenoix and the Carpet, Ballet Shoes and Anne of Green Gables

I have a couple of programmes which I watched as kid but I can't remember much about them... including what they were called!
One was about a pair of garden gnomes it was shown on Childrens' ITV in the mid-80s.
The other was about some kid who was friends with a swirly floaty alien thing, again it was shown in the mid-80s but I'm not sure which channel.
Both were live action rather than cartoons.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot to metion "The Outer Limits" and "The Twilight Zone" - two more classics from the 60's.
I remember one Twilight Zone story that only had one line of dialogue - it atucally won an award and was very atmospheric. It centered on a woman living alone who could hear noises in her house - then she thought she saw little figures running along the skirting board and vanishing. To cut it short, she finally hears noises in the loft and goes up there with an axe and sees a small flying saucer that has crashed through her roof. She attacks it with the axe and the only line of dialogue is "Houston - we are under attack........" or something very similar to that. Tha camera pulls back to show an american flag painted on the top of the now destroyed saucer.
It does amaze me how much I clearly remember from shows I watched when I was between 5 and 10, but cannot remember a single memorable show from the last 15 years.........

The twilight zone was the first scary show i ever saw.I was too young foe the original Outer Limits but kind of enjoyed the 90s version.
Not great TV but fun.
Does anyone else remember the Red Hand Gang, the Littlest Hobo, or Manimal?

Manimal was fab. Every time I see Simon McCorkindale in Casualty, I can just see the veins in his hands start to go funny!
Does anyone remember a night time show called Cover Up which was about a model agency that was a front for a spy ring? It had Bonnie Tyler's Holding out For A Hero as a theme tune?

Alfster Posted Apr 13, 2005
So do I! which is amazing considering the show was shown once in the mid-eighties on the BBC and cancelled after 13 episodes in the States and yet it has defined who McCorkindale is for alot of us. No chance of being typecast from that role though.
I do not think anyone has mentioned 'Why don't you' turn off the television set and go and do something less boring instead. Possibly the dumbest theme song and programme title ever for kepping viewers.
