There are only notices on the personal space for lifetime bans -- the italics prefer to not make a big deal out of the temporary bans, from what I recall.

It's always been the way on the 'Serious Threads'
Some are more equal than others.
When I first started posting I was fully prepared to expect fair and reasonable treatment. But that is not possible because certain people will always post in what I consider to be an ununhootoolike manner against anyone who disagrees with them. IE nasty and pointscoring
Occassionally one person may try to break ranks but then a certain individual puts pay to that and we return to same ol same ol!
I was prepared to be reasonable but from now on if I am attacked on these type of threads I shall complain to TPTB

Thanks * and Mikey, that makes things a bit clearer
I saw Hoo's original post about breaking the moderation system and it's a shame it's been removed because I think it makes it very clear why Hoo would be suspended rather than just be put on Premod.
So, how do we know that Apple/Della is on premod? I saw GreyDesk saying this earlier but I have't seen any confirmation of it.
Sorry for all the questions, but I don't trust either Hoo or Della to play fair or straight on this.

I have seen a couple of her posts, that several minutes later, were obscured. Other "moderated" posts with immediate replies from Az or others, before being hidden. I'd say pre-mod isn't instantaneous ... but pretty damned quick.

The italics generally don't answer questions about "is such and such on pre-mod". You can ask an individual if they are, but people have been previously known to lie about this (or simply be misinformed, I guess). The only way I know is to pay attention to the postings from that account, and see if there's a pattern of postings showing as "pending moderation" or whatever it is they say (I forget the exact wording) before the actual post shows up. On a slow day, the moderators get to pre-mod postings awfully quickly, so it may only show as pending moderation for a few seconds. On a busy day, it can be like that for hours.

I think this is a good way to proceed, red
Like a number of others on the site, you do have quite a confrontational style of relating here. I don't see this as a problem about anyone necessarily. I do notice that in tense situations like some Forum threads, and the Della wars, people who post confrontationally do tend to get into conflict fairly often.
I think Mother of God and Dr Dreadful* gave you some really good advice about this in the What is a Troll thread .
*I think it was them, it was on about the second page.
I'm not saying you should have a personality change, just that it's unlikely that you didn't in some way contribute to the situation as well as the others.

"I have seen a couple of her posts, that several minutes later, were obscured. Other "moderated" posts with immediate replies from Az or others, before being hidden. I'd say pre-mod isn't instantaneous ... but pretty damned quick."
What you're describing isn't pre-moderation. In pre-moderation, post content is not displayed on the board at all until the moderators have okayed it. A person posts, and an essentially blank post shows up as "pending moderation" (or whatever the exact phrase is these days) until the moderators have had a chance to review and okay the post. After the moderator okays it, the content is visible.
What you're describing is the opposite, reactive moderation. That's what would happen if someone wasn't on pre-mod -- or was, but was using a separate account to post -- and the individual posts were being yikesed.

*, that doesn't sound like Premod. I thought in premod the post doesn't show at all until the mods have okayed it.
Thanks Mikey, I'll go have a look at Apple's posts again myself.

This Posting is currently queued for moderation, and will be visible as soon as a member of our Moderation Team has approved it (assuming it doesn't contravene the House Rules). The Researcher who posted it is currently being pre-moderated, so all new Postings they make must be checked before they become visible.

Thanks GreyDesk
Post 795 is actually from pedro, but I think I know the one you mean. It is pending moderation, and I didn't get to see it before it was removed. Hence my confusion this morning, all this happened while I was sleeping. Various people using the word 'banned' hasn't helped either.

GreyDesk Posted May 20, 2005
Sorry kea, I didn't really answer your question properly, did I.
In short you'll get no official announcement of a pre-mod / temporary ban for any reseracher. The italics just don't make announcements about it at this stage.
The only time we can expect a formal statement on site is if a researcher reaches the final stage of the transgressions process and life time ban is in the offing. At that point there will be a case presented by the italics and they will open up threads for the community to make representations on the matter.

Whoa! You got it right this time!
If anyone wants to call me Colonel Sellers, I have no issue with it. It is, after all, a name I originally gave to myself, so why would I object? The only times I've objected to it is when you've insisted on calling me Colonel Sanders instead.
And there's an old friend I rarely cross paths with these days, but who still calls me "formerly GB" in honor of my first moniker on hootoo (BtM is the third), which I later abandoned because there were too many of us. I like it when she calls me that, because it hearkens back to an old friendship.
I've always been a little curious as to why you get offended when people refer to you by a name you once gave to yourself.

Oh look, I've received more hate mail. I just thought I'd post this particular one (there have been several such emails) as it's short and gives an idea of what I've been putting up with. One does wonder, though, how I manage to *manipulate* people all over the globe. Hypnosis? Perhaps telekinesis? Voodoo?
