Do these sunrise times look right?

Post 1

From the 5 day weather forecast on the BBC, the following are the times given for sunrise and sunset:

Day sunrise sunset
Wednesday 6.32 18.33
Thursday 6.31 18.33
Friday 6.18 18.45
Saturday 6.21 18.42
Sunday 6.19 18.43

Is there an obvious error there, or can sunrise times jump about about rather than getting steadily earlier each day in the Spring?

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

Looks odd to me smiley - erm
I'd hazard a guess that :
"Friday 6.18 18.45"
Oughta be:
"Friday 6.28 18.45"
Me guesses this is a finger pressing the '1' rahter than the '2' smiley - ermsmiley - doh

Does look a bit weird. Though 2legs could be right. Easily done.

Sunset looks odd, too, on Friday. It gets earlier again on Saturday.

There's a full moon on Friday. Perhaps it's smiley - erm pulling the sun off course or something.*

Are those all GMT times btw? Doesn't it all change by an hour on Sunday as well, so we have to go to bed an hour after we've got up or something?

Mol

*Note. That is NOT a serious scientific suggestion.

GMT yes. Try it yourself - it's on the BBC weather 5 day forecast site.

And we don't lose an hour till 30th, so I don't think it's that...

Hmmm, I can find information about the analemma, the figure of 8 shape aparently transcribed by the sun, and I've searched the link provided to the Royal Observatory site, and I've look up other tables for sunrise times around the world, and none of them show this anomaly.

And I cannot for the life of me manage to send an email to the BBC smiley - steam - all the clicks just lead me round in circles to their FAQs, which don't cover this.

Ah, thanks. I was all set to put the clocks forward this weekend smiley - blush.

If it's a mistake, it's still there, cos I was on the weather bit of the website earlier.

It looks like a sudden time shift ... where are all the Doctor Who experts when you need them?

As odd as it sounds, no this isn't too off. The sun, as the axis tilts for the season, will affect the time on the sunrise/set for about two-three weeks. There are times too that the time does not change from day to day.

The only one I'd question though is the Thursday to Friday one. Usually the changes in Sunrise/Sunset are only two minutes, three at the most. Thirteen minutes is a bit odd.
