Well, I read through them all and I can't believe no one suggested:
Sweet Caroline by Status Quo - where are all the headbangers when you need them!
Please tell me it was included

Oops! - Doh! Quite right, sorry (in the lyrics, not the title).
Were either of them used?

I promise I will post the final playlist as soon as I have a chance to type it all up.
I've only a few more weeks to prepare for the next one... this time, I'm doing all punk and post-punk (New Wave and ska are okay as well) covers.
Choices thus far:
Lene Lovich- "I Think We're Alone Now"
The Damned- "Alone Again Or"
Bauhaus- "Ziggy Stardust"
Husker Du- "Eight Miles High"
Metallica- "The Wait", "It's Electric", or "Whiskey In the Jar"
Naked Raygun- "Suspect Device"
Wreck- "Atomic Dog"
And there are a few others in my personal collection I'm not recalling at the moment.
Any other suggestions?
I promise that BOTH final playlists will be posted as soon as humanly possible.

Okay, I know that Metallica fits none of the above genres, but they're all cool tunes and great covers.
Oh, yeah, and perhaps something off of Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" album...
Start suggesting, please? Punk, post-punk, New Wave type stuff, and ska are all acceptable. Hmmm... what about Rancid's cover of "Bad Moon Rising"???

Aha! My specialised subject!
The Damned - 'Eloise'
The Clash - 'I Fought The Law'
and the best cover in the world ever:
The Slits - 'I Heard It Through the Grapevine'
More to follow...

The Jam did some great covers - they started out as a covers band. There's a great version of 'So Sad About Us' that they did when Keith Moon died, a cracking cover of the Small Faces' 'Get Yourself Together' and they did a lot of good soul ones as well. 'Move On Up' and 'Sweet Soul Music' spring to mind.
Aztec Camera's version of Van Halen's 'Jump' is very good - if you can find it, the live acoustic version is the best one by far.
Snuff have done some decent ones as well - 'Wannabe' by the Spice Girls, 'I Think We're Alone Now' by Tiffany, and best of all a speedy reading of 'Don't Fear The Reaper'.

And I found out some time in the last month that 'Hanging On The Telephone' by Blondie is a cover, the original being done by a power-pop band called The Nerves. 'Denis' is a cover as well, isn't it?

Just before I turn in, on a ska-based theme, Real Big Fish doing A-Ha's 'Take On Me' works very well, as does The Toasters' version of the Tetris Theme.
And I don't know if it quite qualifies under genre terms, but Nada Surf's live guitar n'bass cover of 'Blue Monday' should be heard by everyone!

How did I know that you'd come through, Number Six? I wish Superdogmonkey were still here as well, to assist with this one.
Keep 'em coming!!

The Adicts- "You'll Never Walk Alone"
Minor Threat- "I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone"
Echo & the Bunnymen- "People Are Strange"
Devo- "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"
7 Seconds- "99 Red Balloons"
Spies Who Surf- "Hocus Pocus"
Sonic Youth- "Ca Plane Pour Moi"
Velvet Underground- "Crimson and Clover"
The Hitmen- "Didn't Tell the Man" (one of my favorite songs EVER!)
Rights of the Accused- "Do You Love Me"
Amazulu- "Don't You Just Know It"
Concrete Blonde- "Everybody Knows"
Corrosion of Conformity- "Fortunate Song" (if I don't do the Rancid one)

General Public- "I'll Take You There"
Dexy's Midnight Runners- "Jackie Wilson Said"
The Damned- "Jet Boy, Jet Girl"

Happy to oblige, pc
Of course, Dexy's! The Northern Soul ones, 'Breaking Down The Walls of Heartache' and 'Seven Days Too Long' are fantastic, but for me their cover of 'Respect' is even better - and, dare I say it, even better than Aretha!

Oooh, I've not heard their cover of "Respect"! I MUST check it out!!
Oh, and yeah, I think "Denis" is a cover...
How about a cheesy one, Red Kross's cover of "Dancing Queen"?
