There's an even better suggestion in the Grauniad's letter page: A one minute's noise.

I think a minute's noise is a fantastic idea. I may have some Extreme Noise Terror somewhere... *rummage*

WanderingAlbatross - Wing-tipping down the rollers of life's ocean. Posted Oct 30, 2004
The Home Truths tribute this morning, hosted by Roger McGough, was moving and humourous. I'd be suprised if there was a dry eye amongst listeners.

It was very good. It was interesting to hear some the incidental building-up-to-an-interview stuff. And Brian Gallagher's piece was good as well.
I also appreciated the silence after the show. No announcer, no promo, nothing. Just a few moments of silence until the pips turned up. Subtlely done.

Yes, just listened to it on listen again. It was very well done. Makes it still a bit surprising that he is gone to hear him again on such fine form in the clips.

He was one of those people who seemed as though he'd been around forever and seemed like he always would be.

Like most of Birchill's writing, it says more about her than the subject she is writing about.

I've seen Julie Burchill falling out of the Sussex Arts Club (*) pissed and surrounded by her coterie. She really doesn't come across as the working class hero that she thinks she is.
(*) Think - Groucho Club-by-sea for a comparison.

I took this photo a few weeks ago in Belfast- the 'graffiti' appeared shortly after his death, and has not been drawn over, whitewashed or defaced in any way Just shows the high regard the man was held in.
