I loved the comment: "has anybody looked into the possibility of an evil penguin provoking the incident by remote control?"

Keith, the story was about a recovery of the species in SA waters not Victorian waters. And yes, I have been to Phillip Island.

which, along with the story linked in it, just goes to show how welcoming we earthlings really are to aliens...

Don't know if it's been mentioned before, but the Kate Moss label story has really amused and irritated me at the same time.

"The best known goat in Sudan has died months after being "married" to a man in the South Sudan capital, Juba"

although I'm not sure what to make of the fact that said goat had had a kid before it died although "not a human one".

Ipswich Town has become the first carbon-neutral football club in the UK. They achieved this by being so dreadful everyone goes to Colchester instead.

Today in Oslo a football game is taking place between some muslim imams and christian priests as part of an attempt at interfaith dialogue. Which sounds like a really good idea. Sadly the imams had refused to play, if any of the christian priests they would play against would be female. So it seems it is going ahead without female priests instead.

A follow up to Xanatic's story -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6628929.stm

"A friendship-building football match between Muslim and Christian clergy in Norway was called off after a row over the participation of women players.
Muslim Imams had refused to play against women because it went against their beliefs about close physical contact with the opposite sex.

But when the church decided to drop its women players, the priests' team captain walked out in protest.

The game was meant to be an enjoyable end to a day-long conference in Oslo."
