Mind you I skimmed.

effers:
1. you indicated a long time ago that you did not wish to engage me and i have honored that
2. yes, you must have just skimmed... along the left side bar and at the bottom and i believe along the right side bar are references to spain, egypt, and some other stuff...
3. why nay say me? whats the sense of that? who do you think you are? i have as much right to post here as you or anyone else. there seems to be some of automatic knee jerk reaction amongst some of you to find fault with me... this time, effers, YOU messed up... check your facts...
and to anyone thinking i am overreacting
this has been going on for months maybe even years
and not just with me
if you all want a good site that attracts folks other than some obscure little UK demographic...
you might want to reassess how you all treat those who do not 'belong' to the group 'in the know'

The European Parliament has voted to back a call for national sports teams to wear the EU flag on their shirts.

This despite FIFA explicitly banning political symbols from shirts?

Fluffy,
"and to anyone thinking i am overreacting"
As a disinterested party, I must say that it looked to me that you did overreact (although I can understand why you might be defensive).
I saw nothing cutting in Post 12761 - after all, Effers did say that she'd only skimmed.

There is sufficient evidence to charge Chris Huhne with perverting the course of justice

Is the EU flag an explicitly political symbol though? Any more than any other flag that is.

Yes, HI, in context I reckon so, (speaking as a newly begotten outsider [so berate me] ...?)

I would have just ignored the link to democracy now because its .a site Icm already familiar with from the Bush years, but the fight made me look and consider...
When I go to the democracy now link, (mobile, BTW) I get a big picture of the statue of liberty and then a short collection of links, the first of which is to a collection of "news briefs from around the world" and the test are about U.S. politics.
Looks like a typical U.S. site to me. I wouldn't expect anything in the way of a real global perspective from what I see on the mobile site. Just token News briefs.
But, not worth more.than a passing comment, and certainly not a fight.

anhaga Posted Feb 3, 2012
Oh. When I clicked on the "news briefs from around the world" I was offered a list of about twenty stories, *all* U. S. Stories except for one about the soccer fight in Egypt.
Nope. Not my source for what's going on in the world.

"A beer named Top Totty and advertised with a picture of a scantily-clad woman has been withdrawn from a Westminster bar after a Labour MP complained.
Shadow equalities minister Kate Green said she was "disturbed" to hear it was on sale in The Strangers' Bar, which is where politicians can bring guests."

Been on sale for 5 years and she hasn't seen it herself, but hey-ho, she's offended.
Replace it with a bitter I expect.

Pink Paisley Posted Feb 3, 2012
Oh dear. Should Kate Green ever Google her own image, she will be somewhat taken aback.
However, I am surprised at my own surprise that the managers of The Stranger's Bar hadn't had the foresight not to stock this one.
