What news story has caught your attention today?

because those who indulge in hetro sexual anal sex are not banned from donating, or those who regularly employ sex workers

Exactly. The ban was a knee-jerk reaction to the idea that AIDS and HIV affected only gay men and I'm glad to see the back of such institutionalised homophobia

So, do homosexual men think it is reasonable that they refrain from gay sex for a year before giving blood?

The logic is that all donated blood should be tested
for all the potentially nazti germs and not just
presume that some people will have them and others
will not.
A friend of mine died last week from hepatitis C
contracted from tainted blood. We had quite a
scandal here in Canada a decade or so ago.
And people are still dying from Hep-C and HIV they
got from infected blood, yes by the thousands, because
the Red Cross didn't check for everything if there
was no apparent reason to suspect a donor.

Five arrests in 'slavery' raid at Greenacre travellers' site
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-14871318
What caught my eye was - "since 2008 we were aware of 28 people who had made similar accusations."
What the The police were told 28 times that people were being held against their will and forced into some kind of slave labour? 28 times before they did something? Am I missing something here?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/sep/13/olympics-pay-deal-tube-drivers
"Tube passengers are set to escape the threat of strike action during next year's Olympics after London Underground (LU) bosses reached a deal with train drivers.
Under the terms of the deal, negotiated with unions led by Aslef and the RMT, all tube drivers will receive a one-off payment of £500 and will be paid more during the Games if they work shifts that finish after 1.30am or last more than eight hours."
Once again the Tube drivers get thier way...the amount of money these people earn is obscene for simply pressing accelerate and brake...

http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2011/09/09/homeopathic-leak-threatens-catastrophe/
"An accidental release of highly dilute homeopathic waste from a research institute in Swindon has led to calls for the centre to be shut down. Plant operators have admitted responsibility for massive safety blunders after a spilled drop of an enormously dilute test product was cleaned by a caretaker, and in complete disregard of all safety procedures, allowed to enter the water system after he emptied his mop bucket down the drain."
These homeopaths are playing fast and loose...

Alone, underground, with no natural light, poor ventilation, in a position where 'accident' pretty much means 'death', in London.
Just a bit of extra context for you.
