Any stats on number of drivers killed over the past 10years(barring terrorism attacks) no the Underground...context - actual level of risk rather than perceived level of risk cf deaths of lorry drivers.
Hardly alone pulling coaches of people.

Okay, I'll give you the actual risk vs. perceived risk but I would still maintain that the driver is alone. It's not like on the bus where every passenger pays the driver their fare, the driver is isolated from the people he transports. It's like saying a lorry driver isn't alone because of all the other people on the motorway.
Plus there are still the environmental factors and the fact it's in London (where even a bus driver can easily earn £35,000). London is Very Expensive, salaries in London reflect that. A flat that would barely cost £500pcm in Swindon can fetch £1000pcm in London.
I'd wager it's a pretty bloody depressing job too.

I'd reserve the word 'obscene' to describe the way bankers take multi-million pound bonuses. And all they do is lose our money.

Tube driver: transports thousands to and from work each day, providing something akin to an essential service.
Third string professional sport player/millionaire: sits on a bench.
What's obscene pay?

I see Italy's credit rating has been downgraded. What would happen if all our ratings went down, and no-one was less creditworthy than anyone else ? Would we all be back to normal then?
"What news story has caught your attention today?"

I expect China's rating will stay strong for quit some time.
And Canada is still doing pretty well.

Elderberry's comment was quite prescient!
The IMF just downgraded everybody!
At least the 17 countries that use the Euro.

The way the Euro is going, it'd be a complete disappointment to win the Euro Millions, like pre-1948 German Deutsche Marks and the last failed attempt to create a Federal European Republic

I hope they issued a special souvenir programme explaining some of the rules. I'm forever asked things like "Do they have to knock the goalkeeper over to score, or is it enough just to kick him?"

And a special section explaining the offside rule.
Now where was that swift exit that I left laying around here?
