And like most religious fundamentalism, it's just pious one-upmanship (as is the veil btw) - http://zombietime.com/mohammed_image_archive/islamic_mo_full/

Interesting link. And so many, IMO, superb paintings and illustrations.
Something Islam should be proud of. A bit like some wonderful paintings and music that Christian countries have produced, religiously inspired.
Yeah its the fundamentalism in the Abrahimic religions for me that is the problem..and I'm much clearer in my own mind now..that'll have no truck, or make any sort of excuses for it, because of what some people say about it encouraging racism. Well stuff that..I actually think that's really patronising.

Stieg-Larsson Prize given to Swedish nurse Anne Sjögren, for providing care for illegal immigrants in the Göteborg region.
Didn't find a link in English, sorry.

I remember one of the hymns they made us sing in school was about how despite all our might, we humans couldn´t put a single leaf on a tree. That may soon change. The first artificial cell organism has now been created in a lab:

Toy Box, anyone with a Google Chrome browser can get fair-quality instant translations of foreign-language web sites. Post a Swedish one.

Due to the problem of censorship, we´re not really allowed to link to foreign language websites.

Wow. Mind you, that rule pre-dates Google Chrome. These days it's as easy to check a foreign link as it would be to check an English one.

Here's a link to a google search. The first item is the news story about Anne Sjögren. Next to it there is a little something that says 'Translate this page'. Click it and, no matter your browser, you will get Google's translation. No muss. No fuss. No foreign language link.

Anyway, it's worth remembering that foreign language links are not banned, or breaking the House Rules in any way. The relevant paragraph essentially says "we reserve the right to remove them if needs be".
So post foreign-language links if you like, it's completely allowed.

That's kind of the feeling I had, King Bomba. It seems to me I've posted tons of links to foreign language sites (there are some on my PS). The problem is when posts are made in foreign languages (which is why I no longer have Anglo-Saxon or Icelandic passages on my PS -- only links to those passages)

Well, good.
Thanks for the link, Anhaga. And thanks for bringing it to my attention. For what it's worth, I think she deserves the award.

Ah yes the bare faced otter.
Makes me wonder what sort of chemicals are going into that creek.

I would hypothesize thusly:
dead otter, for whatever reason, in late autumn, in the upper reaches of the creek. Winter falls, creek freezes, otter corpse held in ice in interesting position, with face only exposed to the depilatory effects of some natural process (flowing water under ice, scouring wind above), or, with face only frozen in the ice later to be worked loose by natural process (flowing water under ice, passing carnivore above) leaving fur stuck in the ice. Sam the dog finds the monster.
