"As we sat there, a big mirror came out of the water to its tail and I knew straight away it was the big girl. I text my girlfriend saying that the big girl had shown in my area and I felt close to her tonight an Jon went on his way and wished me luck.

I settled down for the night and must have dozed off when I was awoken by my middle rod bursting into life. As I glanced at my watch it was 3am and after a spirited fight I netted a fish. I then got my scales together and went to lift the net out of the water… it wouldn’t move! I thought I’d snagged the net so investigated further and to my amazement it was the big girl! My legs went to jelly at this point as my dream was being fulfilled. I had a second look just to make sure it was her and realised I was not dreaming! I managed to pull her onto my mat and we weighed her at 54lb 8oz… I was over the moon! The weight was immaterial as any of you will agree when you catch your target"

The other Winter Games:

'Organizers of the 21st Arctic Winter Games in Grande Prairie, Alta., were getting ready Friday to welcome thousands of young athletes from around the circumpolar North.

More than 2,000 athletes, coaches and fans are expected to descend on the northern Alberta city of 47,000 for the week-long games, which kick off Sunday with opening ceremonies.

Contingents are coming from the Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon, northern Alberta, northern Quebec, Alaska, Greenland, Scandinavia and Russia.

Over the next week, athletes will compete in 21 indoor and outdoor sporting events, including cross-country skiing, soccer, gymnastics, hockey as well as traditional indigenous games.

Each contingent will also include cultural performers, who will share music, art and food from their respective regions.'

I was saddened to see that Politikens Hus, which are the owners of the newspapers Politiken and Jyllands_posten, recently made a deal in court with 8 organisations representing the descendants of Mohammad. It got better when I saw that now 38 of Politiken´s journalists have published a letter saying they do not support this action. Good on them.
