Psychocandy, I absolutely love Bunuel's 'Exterminating Angel' too. Haven't seen it in years. Let me know if you find anyone online selling it on DVD, though I'll need a region 2 DVD.

I've not wanted to watch Five Children and It becasue of all the memories of watching it on telly when I was little.
Though the thought of the Izzard voice in it is pushing me towards renting it.

Redpeck, I'll keep you in mind if I see it. I guess one of my better half's bandmates has it on video, so I might at least be able to go that route for the time being.

Three words: Kung Fu Hustle: It's a bleeding scream. Look, do me a favour, hire it out, stick it in the old 'ows yer father and just give it a chance, 'cause at first you'll think you've wandered into some oriental panto' , but stick with it and it'll knock your socks off.

Not seen 'Kung Fu Hustle' yet. Have you seen Tom Yun Goong?
Watched Wes Craven's 'Red Eye' last night. Rather good

ES - If you liked Kung Fu Hustle, be sure to check out Shoulin Soccer by the same director, Stephen Chow. Fantastic.

flakey-lady.... you lookin' at me punk? Posted Dec 29, 2005
hope everyone had a nice xmas........
we saw narnia xmas eve and i loved it...almost perfect for me and just as i loathed edmund all those years ago when i 1st read the books i still felt the same disgust and betrayal
we also saw lassie yesterday...enjoyable enough, sentimental as ever although my only critisism would be how weak lassie was....a very apathetic dog... i don't feel the dog was up to the role entirely and you could clearly see it taking off screen instructions.. not natural enough.. have seen better lassie dogs as actors...
in fact the little terriers were far more entertaining....
also saw the wedding crashers on dvd .....not up to much by my standards.. love both the actors but jokes were weak and thin on the ground.. however him outdoors liked it quite a lot
gutted to have forgotten to tape nil by mouth possibly the only good film on this xmas and i missed it, and blockbuster don't have it either...

Yes, I saw Wedding Crashers too, all style, no content. I've been trying to think of something really unpleasant to say about this film, but failed, dull as ditchwater.

King Kong? Whattawhyhowwasit? In my opinion, quite boring and incredibly overlong, and to paraphrase Waynes World 2 'Did you not think it a trifle unneccesary to see the crack in the giant monkeys bottom?' Different camera angles should of been employed, as the effect of a giant majestic powerful gorilla rampaging through noo york was eroded by seeing the monkeys buttocks. I do not know why, it just was. Far too much monkey bum, and as for the King Kong on Ice bit in Central Park. Sheesh. Cheque please I'm out of here. Waste of film. A stinker. A travesty. 3 hours just to watch a big monkey climb a building, spank a biplane then get shot. Gah. Will be a 'blockbuster' simply for the OOooooo factor of the special effects then will, hopefully, sink without trace.

Reckon I agree with you pfffft, even without having seen the film yet. I just can't imagine the story taking three hours to tell and I'm not a huge fan of computer generated special effects - nor close ups of gorilla bottoms.
Saw Closer the other day on dvd. Really tedious. Just a bunch of boring people not doing well with their relationships. Who cares?

Took Andrew to see the "Chronicles of Narnia" Tuesday.
We both enjoyed it, although quite why they went back at the end was beyond me. I'd have stayed there.
I'm going to watch "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" tonight, it'll save me buying it, I can cross it off the "to rent/buy if cheap" list

Watched (courtesy of a Rent one get one free token)
Billion Dollar Baby
and
Sideways
BDB - my hearing usually prevents me from enjoying whispery actors like Freeman and Eastwood (good though they undoubtedly are). And I don't usually like dark (visually) movies either. Oh and I hate boxing too. But this was very well done - great story, superb acting, lovely cinematography.
Sideways I really enjoyed - mild comedy about 30 somethings bonding on a stag wine tasting tour. Nicely acted by relative unknowns.
Oh and had the complusory sob at The Red Shoes to day on telly.
Still wanting to see March of the Penguins, with yer man Freeman again.

Lara Croft is a great film, in an enjoyable nonsense kinda way...probably the best film I've seen based on a video game. Plus, it's got Angelina Jolie in it - I realise this may appeal more to the fellas than to the girls...

Million Dollar Baby . . .
Weirdly I had a dream with Angelina Jolie in it last night - and I don't even like her.
