It grossed less than $300,000. Chances are, it only showed in one or two theaters in Greater Boston, most likely Kendall Square in Cambridge, which is so hard to get to that I've only been there once in my life.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see a film unless someone I really wanted to see was in the cast.

Please don't suggest watching it on DVD. I use the DVD for my computer as a DVD player. The last time I put a DVD in it, it got stuck and I had to pay $50.00 to get it taken out smiley - groan.

smiley - yikes

I wouldn't suggest watching it on DVD, even if you're a fan of Tom Hiddleston. Don't waste your money! I now have an image of his chin covered in dog's blood, which I can't erase, which hopefully will fade in time. And I am still offended by the heavily-pregnant woman who chain-smoked and drank alcohol (two of my pet hates) who ended up having sex from behindsmiley - facepalm (that's when we left)smiley - footprints

Tower Block

I was confused too, I said I only recognised Tom Hiddleston, when of course, the fabulous Jeremy Irons was in it (he was the architect) - he must have been hard up! (He was great in "The Man who knew Infinity") smiley - cry

Oh Mr Irons is not immune to starring in tosh smiley - biggrin

One of the more ridiculous films I've ever seen was the one where he played twin, disturbed gynaecologists... smiley - yuk

You ust be thinking of "Dead Ringers," which title always suggests a joke about Quasimodo and his twin.

other roles:

I think he may have been a vampire in "Beautiful Creatures," which I adored.

He played a sort of Jesuit investigator in "Casanova."

I didn't see him as Humbert Humbert in "Lolita," but he has the acting chops for the role.

I didn't see him as Scarface in "Lion King," obviously, but he can do menacing voices quite well.

I saw him as Kafka in "Kafka," but don't remember much about his performance.

He played Claus Von Bulow in "Reversal of Fortune" with appropriate condescending snarkiness.

I was afraid that someone would pan "A Chorus of Disapproval," which is a guilty pleasure for me. After claiming to be unfamiliar with "Merry Widow" during the casting process, he goes off to the train station whistling the "merry Widow Waltz" at the end of the film. smiley - biggrin

But I first heard of him in "Brideshead Revisited."

He plays upper-crust snarky really well, but under the crust he showed a big heart in "The Man Who I Knew Infinity."

If you're an actor, you don't make a living if you aren't acting, so you take whatever jobs come along. It's a fact of life, tosh notwithstanding. smiley - erm

Absolutely, I mean nothing bad by that - I'm not sure there's an actor alive who's not made some bad films. Robert de Niro - to take one of the finest known film actors known - has done some appalling tripe - but also some timeless classics.

Oh and yeah, Dead Ringers it was. I think most don't think it bad but my memory of it is it going way beyond ridiculous towards the end - but that's just me smiley - smiley

I'll be perfectly honest with you: "Dead Ringers" confused the smiley - bleep out of me. Like, why did they go to the trouble of making a film that was a downer? Same with "Revenant." I know an actor has to suffer for his art, but does he have to make the audience suffer?

It does make me wonder, though, why mega-earners would choose such roles. What do they do with all the millions they have previously earned?smiley - huh I still shudder that Will Ferrell ruined Bewitched, I wouldn't have paid him 17.5 dollars, never mind millionssmiley - grr

Yesterday we saw Bastille Day. Idris Elba - surely one of the best actors around. You'll love this if you're a Die Hard fan. We both like Idris Elba and I'd like him to be the next James Bond, please, not the insipid Tom Hiddleston (is anyone else annoyed by the constant photos in the newspapers of his new romance? Either they are being stalked or it's self-promotionsmiley - grr)

Today we are going to spend my cinema-tickets birthday gift on Independence Day in 3-D. Full report latersmiley - run

Jeremy Irons was born on the Isle of Wight, you know…

Henry Cavill wants the role of Bond, but after being Superman and Napoleon Solo in 'The Man From Uncle', would Bond be a role too far? It isn't his decision, no matter how much he drops hints...

I'm rather partial to Danial Craig as Bond.

Henry Cavill? Seriously? Isn't there some sort of curse that follows any actor who plays Superman? Even if, like Ben Afleck, he's only playing an actor [George reeves] who *played* Superman? His marriage is seriously screwed up.One minute you hear that it's kaput, and the next minute it's back together. smiley - cdouble

Not that you can't have a screwed up marriage without playing Superman. smiley - bigeyes

The curse seems to have backfired on audiences - have you seen Ben Affleck as Batman?smiley - hero

Henry Cavill was the second choice to play Bond in 2005, but lost out to Daniel Craig, having been cast as Superman in 2004 only to be replaced by Brandon Routh for 'Superman Returns', but then finally becoming Superman in 'Man of Steel'. But the 'Curse of Superman' hasn't affected Dean Cain; he barely seems to have aged other than having grown a beard when he's played Supergirl's adopted dad in the 'Supergirl' television series. GB wrote a fun entry on it.

As for Henry Cavill's Bond, he's been dropping hints how he'd like to play the role in almost every interview he's held over the last decade. I saw one interview with him in which he was supposed to be discussing 'Man of Steel' but only discussed Bond. I supposed the closest we'll get to see how he would have taken on the role was in 'The Man From Uncle'; the original series was part-devised by Ian Fleming who wrote the Bond books.

I may see IDR eventually, but tonight I saw "Genius," in which Colin Firth played editor Maxwell Perkins, Jude Law played writer Tom Wolfe, and Nicole Kidman played Wolfe's wife. Fantastic acting all around smiley - ok.

You can call me TC

We saw Bastille Day yesterday - great fun! Totally over the top story. Idris Elba majestic and lovable at the same time. Richard Madden who played the other guy got it right, too. Noticeably only one mini-goof listed on ImDB in the goofs section.

Independence Day 2 doesn't come out here till next week. On July 14 (Bastille Day) smiley - doh

We saw Florence Foster Jenkins on Friday. Very much enjoyed it, excellent period street & interior scenes. Laugh out loud in places but really rather a poignant story.

That's not out in our area yet, but I anticipate the pleasure of hearing Meryl Streep sing badly. smiley - ok
