Are you serious about these invites being sold on eBay?
Because that would be plain stupid. With one invite you can make almost an infinite amount of accounts, given a couple days. It only takes one enterprising soul to flood the market. Why would there be worth to such a thing?

Yes, certainly in the early days there were GMail invites attracting high prices on eBay.
In the first round of invites there really weren't that many out there. Plus one didn't get loads and loads of other invites with your new account, like you do today. Also I believe to get any invites with your account then you had to used it for a couple of weeks, therefore there was no chance of generating fresh invites on an exponential basis.
So really it was just a meeting of supply and demand that triggered the high prices.

I know my sons would like them and I'm pretty sure my daughter will too. How long is it before they give you invites to send? (Or do you have to be a heavy user to earn them?)

I apparently have 6 but when I click on the link the window doesn't come up
Tefkat - you should get invites within a week or so but it really depends on what they're feeling like, the weather, how many legs are on the spider they just found and what they had for lunch! (i.e. it's a little bit random!)

I had the same initial trouble when I tried doing the invite thing from IE (yeah I know, blame work) that had an over-zealous popup blocker. It eventually worked once I added gmail to its allow list.

I have Google's pop-up blocker. I'm assuming it will allow Google's po-ups through. (I know, I know...)

Hi all,
sorry, Croz, for the bounced mail and subsequent silence - was away for a while then forgot all about this thread.
Anyone still got an invite going?
I can supply a valid e-mail if someone is willing to 'invite' me...
Any feedback on G-mail itself?
ta in advance

I've got an invite I can send you, but I won't be able to until about two hours' time.
If nobody sends you one before then, then I will.

No, sorry, that was the problem last time. I've given up on that address - too many addies!
can you still forward it to an alternative addie when it bounces back to you, as someone said earlier on this thread?

Ah yes, I see. Once again, I didn't bother to read the backlog.
I can just send you another invite, rather than forwarding the bounced one, as I've still got loads of them but no friends to send them to.
If you don't want to post your email address on h2g2, you can find my email address at the bottom of my space.
