In no particular order,
The Andromeda Strain
Solaris (original)
Blade Runner (dir. cut)
Alien (perhaps more horror than sci fi?)
Soylent Green

MMF - Keeper of Mustelids, with added P.M.A., is now in a relationship. Posted Aug 6, 2004
Again, random selection:-
Solyent Green... for good example of recycling.
Coma... as above.
The Running Man... Big Brother XXII? Anyone?
The Omega Man... What would happen after a terrorist attack?
Demolition Alley... Where is the petrol?
again the list is never-ending... as there is The day the earthcaught fire, and the one with Gort (?) the giant robot.
Please bear in mind that I am basing these on their date of release, not watching now....

Gort was in The Day The Earth Stood Still. An absolute classic of a film.

Anyone rate Perfect Dark?
'tis the only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned. I know it's not strictly intelligent but it's the best I can offer!

Has anyone mentioned Pi?
Or Cube?
And, though it's stretching the definitions of both 'intelligent' and 'SF', the orginal Star Wars film. When you consider how the film is structured it is actually quite cleverly written, playing off various mythological archetypes and whatnot.

I like Perfect Dark although I'd reserve it as one not quite meriting this thread (although it's better than some mentioned here).

Seeing as Mad Max has been mentioned, I reckon that Mad Max 2 deserves a place as well.
But not number 3. Dear lord, no.

And I reckon Pich Black has a certain amount of intelligence too. Though I can understand that not everyone will agree...

Hmmm, getting confused what's the difference between Pitch Black and Perfect Dark?
The one with the (then unknown -at least to me) Vin Diesel is the one I was referring to.
