Nurse Gladys Emanuel
or Megan Roberts (Nerys hughes wasn't it? )

Martin from Coro (he's a nurse)

Marcus Welby from the US series 'Marcus Welby M.D.'
Dr. Kildare (don't know if he's already been mentioned)
Owen M.D. (from a BBC series of that name back in the early 70s)
I'm surprised that nobody from E.R. has cropped up, so...
Dr. Doug Ross
Dr. Luka Kovac
Dr. Elizabeth Corday
Dr. Romano
Dr. John Carter
Dr. Greene (can't remember his first name)
Dr. Weaver
Dr. Springfield
Assuming the 'Dr. John H. Watson' referred to earlier was Sherlock Holmes' sidekick, he *may* have been based on a real person, but Dr. Watson is regarded as fictional, so he still counts, IMHO.

John Watson was not Holmes's *sidekick*, he was Holmes's *friend*.

According to my copy of the OED, a sidekick is a 'close associate' (colloq.). As an associate is a 'partner, companion or colleague' (also from the OED), I think 'close associate' or 'sidekick' covers their relationship. Besides, I thought we were submitting names, not nitpicking over semantics.

Fine, whatever. Well, I can't think of any right now. Wait...

I did suggest Dr. Acula, but my friend didn't like that for some reason.

It's a thinly vieled pseudonym used in one Hammer horror film. Take out the dot and the space and it should make sense.

How about Quincy
Or Nursey from Blackadder II (a.k.a Bernard)
You could also easily delve into the cast list of E.R, Casualty, Holby City, etc.

Oh, now it makes sense. Hmm... can I further justify my presence here?

or Dr Nick Riviera ("Hi everybody!")
Various people from Scrubs
Hannibal Lecter
Wasn't Fu Manchu a doctor?
The bloke that Dick Van Dyke plays on afternoon TV - in Diagnosis Murder
