what are the seven wonders of the world?
The Doc Posted Dec 20, 2004
In a nutshell - although if she was up for an award, it would have certainly been the Golden Globes......................

There is no non-scientific reason for it to stay up except by magic. Planes are not meant to fly. They just do. It is a lot like us staying on earth. They say gravity. Yeah, right. Is that like some kind of big magnet? So how does the rain get up in to the clouds? Does the gravity let some objects float Freely away only to bring it crashing back down. And then there is that plane. Floating serenely along. They say it is traveling hundreds mailes per hour and yet barely seems to move at all. Slowly it drifts untill I can no longer see it. Maybe then it crashes? You have to see the wonder in tht flight of the plane. I mean it flies so fast that you can leave at 1:00pm and fly for two hours and get where you want to be before noon. We need some realism to live a stable life. But you're not going to get it flying planes. Not in my book anyway. MoFoLo

Gravity is a myth. The earth sucks.

An interesting fact about the seven ancient wonders is that the pyramids were built a couple thousand years before the others, yet they are the only of the seven to still exist.
One of the modern wonders is certainly the internet.

Seven wonders from my travels around Britain and Europe:
1) The Eiffel Tower
2) The Holy Name Church on Oxford Road, Manchester - it is simply a beautiful building and testament to the good people can do in the name of faith
3) The Spinnaker tower in Portsmouth (or at least it will be if it ever gets finished)
4) The Three Graces of Liverpool's waterfront (The Liver Building, The Cunard building and the one in the middle I can never remember the name of)
5) The Trans-Pennine trail
6) The Houses of Parliament
7) Venice

I believe there are several theories of flight to explain the various aspects of flight, however I also understand that none of them completely explains it, nor do they collectively explain it. So when you think 'that can't possibly fly' you could well be right.
Wonders of the world?
I wonder,
Will I get a pay rise?
are the stars really giant balls of gas lightyears away in space or merely pinpricks in the veil of night?
Will he/she say yes?
what exactly is lineside track equipmnent and why, if it is so important, don;t they look after it better?
where did I put the car keys?
whose round is it?

Apparently, if the anti-gravity measurement (0. - 26 places)had been 0. 25 places - something like that - then all life on earth would have been completely different - "What we still don't know" - ITV1 last Sunday night.
Now THAT's what I call one wonder
Please don't ask me any more about that statement - I followed the programme, but can't remember anything else
PS: In Venice the whole city is built on water - it's not just the canals running through solid land.

"SSSHHHH....stop telling the planes they cant fly or theyll all fall!!"
I think the reference above is possible a mixed one. There is a force, they theorise, which pushes matter apart. It only works over great distances so is extremely weak in small arears. But it is an extremely important force, if it exists, and if it were different then we wouldn't be here.
Then again it might be that if the earth were any closer or further from the sun by said small amount then that would change everything.
The precipice upon which life falters is ragged in the extreme.

yes, thanks - couldn't have explained it near as well - there may be something on the ITV website abut it?
PS The whole thing is pretty damn incredible though isn't it? Mind-blowing

oh yes, indeed so. The above was meant to compliment not critique
I personally prefer the computer simulation theory
