How do you know if you are in love?

Never mind "How do you know you are in love?" what about "How do you know that someone loves you?"

How do you know if you are in love?

Just going back to the topic of unrequited love for a sec, just thought I'd throw in an aside from a textbook that I found recently.
It stated that for the 'rejector', things can be almost more negative overall than for the 'rejectee', due to feelings of guilt, irritation and so on.
Just a bit of an interesting different point of view on the topic of luuurve...

I have just finished reading a lovely book called brand new friend by Mike Gayle that sort of hit home for me. It tells a story of a guy who moves in with his girlfriend in another city, he is not finding it easy, misses his friends that he does'nt see that often and has not found it easy to make new friends. Anyway without telling the whole story he meets Jo, they get on great, same tastes in Music, Films, etc they laugh at the same things and things could'nt be better. The story goes on and they feel that they are falling in love, but there is a problem, Rob (the guy) has a girlfriend who is everything to him, he has to make a decision.
The bottom line is that true love, the spark, the magic, comes from desire.

""The bottom line is that true love, the spark, the magic, comes from desire.""
While not totally disagreeing with the above statement, true love has to be more than desire if there's any chance of a long term relationship. Apart from the obvious, having similar tastes etc, there has to be, in my opinion, enough differences to make both parties want to work at making a relationship work as well. True love is accepting faults as well. There can be no "spark" or "magic" without both visual and voice contact which is where online stuff falls short.
As for the example in Miz's post, ""but there is a problem, Rob (the guy) has a girlfriend who is everything to him, he has to make a decision"" two timing is hardly true love is it?.

I think that love, not necessarily being 'in love' but proper, grown up long lasting love, has to involve trust, mutual respect and affection, a shared sense of humour, communication, and mostly friendship. The relationships that I have been involved in that have been most successful started as friendships and then evolved. Incidentally, I'm still friends with all except one of my exes.

My point is that there are different types of love.
You know you're in love when...

She is the most beautiful woman I have seen in my entire life. Her eyes light up everything. Her smile is the sun and it is the only thing that makes me feel warm. The sound of her name is more beautiful than any birdsong that ever graced this earth. Flowers bow their heads in her presence and give up their perfume as she walks by. The moon reflects her light to watch over me as I sleep. A single touch of her fingers gives me the energy to do anything and everything. When she is near, I stand eight feet tall; when she looks in my eye, I stand one inch small. To feel her arms around me is to experience the universe all wrapped in one place. When she is away from me, I am lost in the universe; alone in infinite space. She unraveled my soul and tied it up how it was meant to be.
