Catachresis - not just a metaphor Posted Feb 27, 2010
Don't know. It was just a handgun of some kind, though he fired a lot of bullets. This was a reply to posts 6714-6742, by the way. Still getting used to the system. Runescribe, Count Zero, Icy North, Eveneye. I wan't posting a useless fact, but their conversation seemed pretty informed.

Got a useless fact, though. The laws forcing people selling their homes to inform potential buyers of any disadvantages was suggested by Marcus Tullius Cicero in the first century BC. Hamlet talks about the law's delay.

Depending on the caliber of the gun, some have lethal ranges well over a mile. A bullet hitting high up on a building would surely still be potentially lethal.

Here are some ranges for a few different calibers. Whether they're fired from a hand gun or a rifle shouldn't significantly effect their range.

While they are unlikely to be lethal at their full distances, in some cases at a mile they likely would be.

Well he wasn't aiming at my office specifically.
So I did the right thing warning her to stand back, then.

It would have probably messed up her make-up, at least.

The 17th floor is still only about 30 meters up, I don´t think I would buy a gun that couldn´t kill someone 30 meters above me.

I don't always correct other people's mistakes.
Now a useless fact: I can't think of a useless fact off hand.

I haven't put up a useless fact but here we go - water is the only element that expands when it freezes

Well, it's got some great facts.
Eg. rats and giraffes can last longer without water than camels can, and the dot over the letter 'i' is called a tittle.
Key: Complain about this post
