Flames do not burn well in zero gravity.

Because there is no gravity the heated gasses do not "rise" away from the flame. therefore the gases around the flame become scarce of oxygen and the flame remains a dim and weak sphere as long as there is no pre-existing air currents.

When the Dutch explorer, Abel Tasman reached New Zealand and anchored off the coast, they found the dawn chorus from the birds totally deafening ... couldm't sleep past 4am.

ok now the dancing girls enter stage left, the gnus and herd of wildebeest can stampede on from the rear whilst we lower the bloke in the leather gimp suit down from the ceiling riding a giant model of an aerosol can, then *blam* fireworks and there's your finale.

We are talking oscars, fistful of here.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

I'll have to double-check my facts when I get home, but I think 'brass monkeys' may be a myth. If I remember correctly the only monkeys found on the gun deck were powder monkeys (small boys who carried the powder charges from the magazine to the cannon).
