Ictoan,
Quick! Start humming The Girl from Ipanema! Apparently this is an excellent 'ear worm' destroyer, however, you end up with TGFI stuck in your head instead. The choice is yours.

How few will remember Life magazine?
It was once the most popular weekly glossy-colour publication in the world. Basically a 'news' magazine, it was famous for its photography, and even after the advent of television it continued to fill a void TV wasn't ready to fill, dramatic candid photos of current events. Snapshots of Real Life.
In any case, there was popular joke and even a song version of it that went something like:
"What's Life?"
"It's a magazine."
"How much does it cost?"
"It costs 15 cents."
"I haven't got 15 cents."
"That's life."
You can see from the cover price being a mere 15 cents that this was way before YOUR time, but I feel this bit of anecdotal information will always deserve inclusion in any thread about Life.

And of course there was also a very popular song which gave rise to another popular expression: "Life is just a bowl of cherries."

Oh az, how you walk into my subtle traps!
Of course, I'm implying that tomatoes are homosexual.

azahar Posted Jan 20, 2004
Ah ha! But I came across another person earlier who had Tomatoes are Vegetables next to their name. So . . . naturally I thought this was some sort of personal issue between the two of you.
Well, never mind. It's after working hours and I shouldn't be noticing people's spelling at this time of night anyhow.

Yes, az, we were having an argument about the relative status of tomatoes. I presume you've crossed paths with Lucky Star, then?
It really is very
The conversation went something like this:
Tomatoes are vegetables!
No they're not, they're fruits!
Vegetables!
Fruits!
Vegetables!
NO! Tomatoes are fruits!
she's promised me a fruit salad for pudding, made with real fruits (including marrow, acorns, aubergines etc.) should I ever turn up on her doorstep...

As far as I know, tomatoes are fruit (no 's') that are eaten as a vegetable.
And now back to our regular scheduled programme . . .

Yes, it is valid, but not in the way you're using it. The plural of fruit (when speaking about quantity) is fruit. But if you speak about different varieties of fruit, then fruits is used. Kind of like fish and fishes. Well, I could be wrong, so whatever . . .

Energy transfer to cell hydrolysed formation...carbon based..ADP/ATP cycle. See Google on AOL.
Other forms unknown: Silicon based possible. Favourable but unknown as to how bonding and energy transfer would function. Ideas?

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Jan 21, 2004
Life is like it is.
Imagine a giant fruit bowl, full of tomatos, and with a lot of kiwi fruit stacked around the side of the bowl. The bowl, might for example, be sitting on an ocasional table, or even, a dinning room table. Well, the kiwi fruit, round the edges, frames the bowl, which itself, containes the tomatos.
Now, if you add a sprinkling of cherrys to the tomatos, so they are evenly covered but can still be seen, then in the distraction that ensued, the ocasional table happened to stalk off and do whatever it was that it does when its not being a table, and that is like life...
