Found this in Asda last night, DVD on sale for under £5 - a bargain!
All I can say is 'wow'! What an excellent film.
Now I may be missing stuff here (no extras on my DVD just the basic stuff or maybe I didn;t look hard enough)
To me it came across as an excellent story about personal perception of reality and ones actions along with a very strong and emotional discussion of the issues around suicide. The way in which all the supposed bad things he did had a positive outcome either for him or the community and yet they were seen by those who were supposed to be helping him as negative. The lines about 'making things right' and then the suicide act itself which superficially put things right but meant that a lot of the good and wonderful things that had happened would now not happen, that in doing this he had removed a lot of joy from those around him and left them with only sadness. Very moving.
In fact I am not entirely comfortable with how it made me feel.
And it had Drew Barrymore in it so that's a plus. Donnie actor was very good.

apart from Drew Barrymore I agree with you.
This was one of the few films out in 02 that made you think. Also the fact that it was pulled from worldwide release for a while cos America got scared of people flying jumbo jets throught their windows

Great film... I think most of the extras are on the one disk edition.

Drew Barrymore may not be the worlds finest actress but I admit I find her to be perfectly acceptable as eye candy
Shall have to go see if my DVD Player will do the extras, it seems to throw a wobbly with some DVD extras for some reason, think the decoder is a bit 'iffy'.

Not sure I really got it. Spent most of the following day singing 'Something happened and I'm head over heels...' though.
Can't really discuss things without spoilers.
Don't know how we're supposed to feel about the ending. Does it mean that Self-Help Man gets away with it? If so, sorry Donnie, but I'd prefer it if you were still a tortured youth. Lesser of two evils, and all that.

that's the point. If you ask me anyway, see my earlier post at the top of the page.

Oh, and mentioning ". Spent most of the following day singing 'Something happened and I'm head over heels...' " was really nasty of you.
I now have it playing on a constant loop in my head

Dinsdale, no thankyou. I have *almost* succeeded with replacing it with 'The more it snows, tiddly pom' winnie the pooh song so dont be giving me any others!
