The boys... The first had all the family names I could think of, because of course I was *expecting* a girl! The second, his father entirely took over, but in the end we compromised. The third one got a middle name his brother gave him, and added his own choice of name in about 1998.
The girls names I saved have ended up wasting their sweetness on the desert air, as my mother used to say, although some have been used for story characters. I have changed my name in RL occasionally, the current name for ringing radio and trying to provide an antidote to Right Wing lunacy, is 'Janet'. Ironic as one of the new purveyors of pro-war, pro-smacking, anti-welfare lunacy is called Janet.
Once, years ago, I was Roxanne. Tee hee... then in the 1980s, the Police brought out a certain song about a fille de joie.

azahar Posted Sep 27, 2003
I live in Seville and there are lots of orange trees here. In the springtime, for about three weeks, the orange blossom (azahar in Spanish - pronounced 'athar') is in bloom and makes the whole city smell like heaven.
I chose azahar for my nickname because it is my favourite flower and I write it in small case because, well, I like it better that way.
Anyhow, most people end up calling me 'az'.

HonestIago Posted Sep 27, 2003
I was studying Othello when I first joined h2g2 and was also going through a fairly sucky period in my life. The thing was, most people didn't know things were wrong because I'd adopted a grin and bear it attitude (or at least a 'don't tell everyone I meet how much I hate my life right now' attitude) Because I was acting as if things were going okay, people who didn't know better thought this was the case. The simplicity of this deception appealed to my then depressy psyche. When I started posting I realised no-one on h2g2 had any idea who I really was, that anything I said about myself would probably be seen as true and so HonestIago was born and now I just like the name and have decided to keep it because ironically, HonestIago has become a part of me in some strange way

serenity Posted Sep 27, 2003
when i first encountered the chat rooms of leisure district(LD), my username was silverlady45(my hair colour, gender and age.
on my 46th birthday, i decided that i didnt want a name that had my age attached as it meant changing it every year.
i thought for quite a while as to something that would describe me as the person i aim to be. hence serenity. i didnt think that 'round the twist and completely bonkers' sounded right, but its probably a closer definition.
when LD closed and i was shown the joys of H2G2, i wanted to keep the serenity, but the only way it would accept it was if i added something and the only thing i could think of was 'from LD'. that way, any other ex LDers knew that it was me..
so im 'serenity from LD'
simple really.

My Name.
Quite simple I love the thought that we all have our own Guardian Angel looking over us, Especially as ive had many near death experiences (through ill health) and also i like to think of my late parents to be my Guardian Angels, looking down on me.
I always use the same name starting from leisuredistrict and it goes where ever i go.
I do also love anything to do with Angels.

As explained in my PS, I stole my nickname from an Alan Moore comics called Top Ten. I quite like the character, though I don't think I've got much in common with her.

Isn't Phlox quite a pretty frilly flower? (might not be spelt that way but if you were still Phelox I would say it like that. )
was the turkey felled with one swift blow, or did you really have it in for it? Or was it a freak accident?

Parker Posted Oct 12, 2003
Me and a group of my friend's were jumping from roof to roof on top the local school and smashing the windows of a nearby building cordoned off due to asbestos being found inside.
When the police came to investigate (don't ask me who tipped them off, it must have been an insider) we were asked to give our names, so I came up with Parker, I don't know why, just off the top of me head.
My real name is Smashy McSmash.
