Bikinis and thongs are a bit different to flashing everything. I think the bar were in trouble as well - didn't they just have a licence for a cafe only or something ?
I'm curious about Cutiechops now ! Were you really drunk to do this in front of 600 ? What would posess anyone to allow blokes to ogle your private bits for free ?

OK - I know people do on a beach abroad but that's for a tan and themselves rather than for effect in a Blackpool pub

Flashing your boobs in public forces people to see them that may be offended.

She broke the law, she got arrested.

I do see your point that police should spend time on more serious crimes. But, as Ictoan said - if they arrest the violent drunk before he gets violent, they've stopped a possible big fight erupting, which would need even more police, as well as ambulances etc.

And the fine has apparently been paid, so the cost of her arrest has been reimbursed to the Greek authorities.

If you're gonna visit another country, you Have to obey their rules. If you don't like it, don't go there. smiley - smiley

>Who the hell are these people to enforce a law which disallows showing flesh.......
They're the ones with the police force who own / run the country. Depending on the governing system they either have the 'right' to do this given by common consent of the populace or because they are bigger and stronger than you. That's governments for you smiley - smiley

>We were all born naked!
but not many of us are born with breasts smiley - smiley

>The human body is a thing of beauty & shouldn't be shamefully hidden!
To some maybe, others no doubt find it repulsive. Certainly there are some I don;t find beautiful either in the abstract or otherwise.

>Why when it is acceptable for women to CHOOSE to pose topless in a PUBLIC tabliod, & sunbathe topless, is it not acceptable in other circumstances!!
Well, it isn;t universally acceptable, there are many who would much prefer that there were no naked images of women or men available. If you mean acceptable in the sense of legal then fair comment. I personally don;t see any problem with people being allowed to decide for themselves how much clothing they wish to wear! Next step? Write your MP or join one of the campaigns to get the law changed.
That's UK specific by the way. As for Faliraki are we sure it is acceptable? Doesn;t seem so. someone posted above that pg. 3 isn;t allowed in Greece in which case at least their laws are consistant!

>And why can men go topless & not women, afterall the primary "use" for a womans breasts is to nourish their babies, not for them to be seen as sexual objects!!
I agree that is the primary biological use. However, I very much doubt that the young lady in question was trying to impress the crowd with her ability to feed babies! Like it or not, society in general perceives breasts to be sexual. Until you change societies perception then the more conservative amoungst us will continue to push for sexual parts of the body to be covered. But keep pressuring the PTB and one day this may change. Doubtful tho'.

CUTIECHOPS - By all means dress as you please, but in accordance with local laws and customs.

I meant for free as in handing it out on a plate - without having to do anything - ie be her boyfriend or at least acquaintance.T
The female form being for nourishment for babies and not treated as sexual objects eh ? Hm, what reason are they being displayed for in the pub ? Were there babies around or to get kicks out of men's reactions ?

That's a good point though...

Yes, they're your smiley - titsmiley - tit, but it's not your country. By all means, walk around the house starkers, flash them if you're in a wet t-shirt competition, but don't force other people to have to see them just because you feel like flashing wherever you want. That's not fair on other people.

I wonder if it's my imagination.. or are women who get their boobs out at every opportunity, viewed with less respect?

Definitely
And Cutie - may have been half and half but I bet you were being gawped at by the men and the women were likely to be a bit taken aback and thinking - how could she. I could be wrong though as everyone was drunk. Was it a smiley - tit competition ?

To a conservative society or a society where public nudity is not acceptable, then yes, they would.

Unfortunately, as much as an individual may believe something and act upon it, not everyone is going to agree with them.

Don;t forget, even in the UK, the idealised female that most of us are brought up with is fully clothed and not 'up for it'. Hence many men, when presented with a woman exposing herself in public, will think that the woman in question is 'easy'. those who are not but on occasion perform such an act have every right to be offended that people will make this assumption. But equally, you have to think of the effect of your actions on other people, and what the outcome might be. If you are not prepared to deal with the consequences, don;t do it.
Much as I might detest the yobbish 'lad' culture and the lack of respect and thought it encourages, I am not about to go out on a friday night and tell them all they are a bunch of antisocial yobs. Mainly cos they'd prove it to me by beating me to a pulp. I might be right, but I'd sooner keep it to myself smiley - smiley

"The fact that angers me is that their govenment spent money in putting her in jail, & that i believe, is wasted money!"

I was going to say... "it's their money".

But of course I'd be wrong. It's OUR money.

Our money as taxpayers in a country which is a large net contributor to the EU, not their money as less affluent citizens of a large net beneficiary of the EU.

And it's our money, if "us" includes the millions of holidaymakers who spend their hard-earned in Greece every year despite the fact that the cradle of civilisation is hardly these days definable as civilised.

There is a simple solution. The Greek government is trying to dissuade a certain class of tourist from going to their country.

I say fine, f**k'em. I hope every British person who would have gone to Falaraki next year spends their money instead in Spain, or Portugal, or France, thus vastly impoverishing every industry in the Greek islands, since pretty much every industry there depends on tourists. I hope the Greek government has fun dealing with starving bar owners, hoteliers, taxi drivers, baggage handlers and boat owners, screaming at them for taking the food out of their mouths by biting the hands that are feeding them and their children.

I hope that'll happen, but it won't. Because Sharon and Darren don't care about politics, they care about where the beer's cheap, and as long as the Greeks keep knocking out 5 shots of spirits for a euro, the p**s-heads will keep going there, working on the defensible logic that even if Greeks arrest one in every four drunks on the island, they've got a 75% chance of having nothing to worry about.

" you have to think of the effect of your actions on other people, and what the outcome might be. If you are not prepared to deal with the consequences, don;t do it. "

Amen, and a massive round of applause. It's called "taking personal responsibility". Hands up anyone under 25 who understands that concept? No, not YOU LOT, you're using h2g2, you're WAY above average by definition. I mean that lot out there - the herd. Look at them...

Another very strong point I have to make is if the Greek authourities have to enforce a law which forbids nudity, why in gods holy name do they have a nudists beach, that is right next to the public beach, that isn't "cornered off" & that isn't "hiddden away!"smiley - ermsmiley - steam

This is just typical, they like many governments are totally contradicting themselves!

And I do not believe that if a woman exposes herself, she is soiling her reputation, but this is a whole new kettle of fish, whereas, if a man does it its laughed off but if a woman does it for fun she's deemed a slappersmiley - erm

Surely this is all taking thie one incident out of context.

Less than a week before this incident someone was murdered in Faliraki and there is now a general crackdown on binge drinking and related behaviour. Having actually partially witnessed what goes on int Faliraki myself a couple of weeks back I find it amazing that people aren't dying from alcohol poisoning there, let alone anything else. Our hotel owners were telling us that the main problem in Faliraki is usually female tourist getting raped.

*That* I believe is the point of what they are up to in Faliraki.

Fair enough I say.
