Like 'em, love 'em or loathe' em it is impossible to imagine what modern music would sound like without Kraftwerk.
Which pretty much puts them in a class of two with the Beatles.

I will never slag of Crrraaaiiig Daaaavid ever again enough if he marries sting.
After his appearance on Bo Selecta I am prepared to forgive everything he's done so far. If only he'd have pissed himself I would be prepared to call him the greatest living Englishman. But I guess its enough that hes got a bit of a sense of humour.
It depresses me that so many people seem to be unable to comment favourably or unfavourably about a peice of music without bringing image into things. I dont care how Kevin Rolands dressed or that his musical direction was sort of new wave Irish folk, "Come on Eileen" will always be one of my favourite records because of the way it sounds and how those sounds make me feel.
Even though I was scared of the Hansons because they looked like various stages in a weird cloneing experimant, I sort of liked MMBop. I would never contemplate doing my hair or dressing like Morrisey but I liked the Smiths' stuff.
How about "one nation under a groove" as a universally likeable record?

Uuurgh - Bo Selecta. In my opinion its the most grotesque thing ever. I'd never seen it until friday night where the "Poke it with a coathanger" scene produced a reaction in me reminiscent to the desired effect of a particularly gruesome vogon poem!!

its not funny. picture the scene in the writers room:
'lets do a silly craig david mask! but make him from leeds! and he can say bo selecta! like he does in his song!'
any gimp can do a 70s pimp accent. its utter tosh. britain, where is your taste?

There's a greater variety of music these days, which means there's plenty to criticise. But going on record sales, tv music programs, and the various festivals I've attended this year (including Global Gathering last weekend ) I would definitely say yes.

Did anyone see that program on channel 4 the other day counting down the top 100 singles ever? Predictably, the top 2 best sellers were charity records but much of it was quite astonishing methought!

Another vote against Bo Selecta. The jokes are ok, the accents irritate me and the masks just make me angry.

The trailers make me laugh. I think that's the way to enjoy it. Only watch the trailers.
