Professor SmokeTooMuch
About little old me, or should that be a little about me?
Species: Human male born in mid 1970's.
Distinguishing marks: Large ears and nose.
Life ambitions: None. (However I would like to be filthy rich, happily married with family, 1st World President, Movie star/director, Olympic champion, Noble prize winner).
My 42ism: (2 + (0*4*1) + 4) * 7 = 42
What am I doing here?: Avoiding doing my job.
The Nickname
The Nickname has been blatantly stolen from the MP character Mr SmokeTooMuch as played by Eric Idle (A701434) in the Travel Agent sketch as performed in Live at the "Hollywood Bowl". I decided to steal the name as I never fail to be amused by the way he goes on and on ranting and raving never pausing for breath or letting anyone else get a word in edgeways and getting more and more worked up about anything and everything to do with the subject in question until eventually being carted off in straight jacket.
The Professor prefix just came from an initial feeling of intimidation from being named Researcher 204147. I do of course now appreciate the quality and importance of the work carried out by researchers but stuck with the Nickname anyhow.
My Introduction to H2G2
I was first introduced the Hitchhikers guide when I started my career in programming. It seems it's a must that all computer programmers must have read the books and be able to quote from the good book whenever an appropriate situation arises (most days). Also the magical number 42 seemed to keep appearing as a default value in code and I had to find out why. Since then I have of course read all the books, brought the TV series on DVD and I am currently keeping my eyes peeled for the Radio series on CD.
My Life
Life... A difficult heading. Guess so far it's pretty much gone like this:
Born
My thanks to my Mum and Dad to their part in this.
Popped out on the 29/09/1975 at Mill Road Maternity House, Cambridge, England. It was closed down a few months later although I'm told this was just coincidence.
Went home
I've lived in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, England all my life. This is basically as small Market Town in East Anglia. A guide entry will follow shortly when I get round to it.
Education
I think the less said about this the better. Let’s just say that I was one of those kids who hated school. That is of course until I hit further education and discovered I could specialise in computing, something which I actually enjoyed. At the end of the day I managed to string a few qualifications together and land myself a job.
Work
After the traditional part time jobs I got a job at a local company doing PC Support and Programming. From here I moved to a large ICT solutions company who I am still working for. My job involves a variety of work but I am currently doing C++ programming on site for one of our clients. Edit: Now working for the client directly, same stuff different employer.
Social life
My main interests at present are as follows, links to Guide Entries will follow once find, create them:
Pubs - My home town is full of these (See Went home above).
Clubs - Of the night variety (Hard House, Trance)).
Snooker – not any good but enjoy anyway.
Sport - There used to be a list of activities here before i developed lazyites.
Ten Pin Bowling - More of a social thing due to local bowling alleys.
Movies – Blockbusters, Comedy’s, Martial Arts.
Monty Python – All sketches, movies, anything-involving individual cast members.
Computer Games – Never really grew out of these and they are kind of responsible for my interest in computers in the first place.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
