I saw Jack Lemon interviewed once, and he said the most common question he got asked was who didn't you like in the business. He said he always replied 'I liked them all, they were all wonderful, except Gene Kelly, that man was a real S@$t'
Just thought i'd throw that in while we're dicussing old hoofers.

You sound like a cool young whippersnapper. Old boots very tired so off to bed now. Nice to meet you and will no doubt catch up in a future thread.

That is amazing, I like them both.
Pity.
I admire Kelly for his physical skills mixed with his acting ability and Lemon for entirely the reverse, his ability to act and combine physical *schtick* with what he said.
Sad.

I expect Lemon's second most asked question was 'why?', but unfortunately he didn't say
Night Boots.

Ooooh no! Maybe it's just the characters she plays, but the tv goes off whenever witless silence appears.
Back to Geggs's 'Christian' comment re George Harrison [162]. As an atheist I think that for someone to object on christian grounds smacks of a spirit of intolerance and non-forgivenes, which is what they're supposed to preach. Therefore I veto any religious figure on the grounds that the emotions they inspire create division between humans.

I really meant the 'invisible friend' type of religious figure [Jesus, Mohammed, Allah/God]
MT I think qualifies as an inspirational human who may have been motivated by her perception of a god but did her good on a basis of need rather than moral opinion. [Unless someone out there KNOWS] I can't veto her.
There, that's bound to offend a few! Me off the list then!!!

Mother Teresa was actually a Nun. I can't remember what order she was from though.

Mother teresa took a lot of flack baecause she didn't care about peoples politics, I remember her being in the paper with Gadaffi and western politicians being horrified....whether they dislike her and whether that matters is a totally different issue!
Anyway - Kathy Burke (I'm smoking a faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag)

I'll second that - much missed by all lovers of intelligent lyrics, and her Dad was Ewan MacColl who wrote "Dirty Old town"

When I hear the name of Danny Kaye, I keep thinking of Paul Kaye, Peter Kay and Vernon Kaye, all of whom have been annoying in opne guise or another. I'll not veto Danny Kaye for that, though.
And objecting to someone on religious grounds is okay. We're not asking for rational dislikes her, just dislikes of any kind.
I seem to remember that some were objecting to Mother Teresa on the grounds of her stance on abortion. Not on this thread, though.
