What?
I have a batch of dark ale to move from the primary fermenter and a part bottle of Chardonnay left over from dinner.
Simple, really.

Sad news.
Canada's second oldest magazine, a history journal published for over 90 years has decided to change its name.
Some greet this news with deference:
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/manitoba/story/2010/01/12/mb-beaver-magazine-name-change-winnipeg.html
Others just have to take the mic:

And there's more out there if you dare search for it.

As an occasional rodent fan, I feel a little sad that one less publication is out there reminding people that rodents are a useful and fascinating part of the natural world. I don't know what the new meaning of beaver is, but if I were the rodent kind of beaver, I would sue whoever is sullying the good name of my species.

That's really sad, ~jwf~.
I would rather they'd just made the fig at those who took the name in a way it were not intended.

As a name *The Beaver* was all wet! Canadian History is much drier, less likely to have it's name laughed at by foreigners who misunderstand the noble beaver- proud with it's glistening fur, eager and standing firm against misunderstanding anthropomorphists and purveyors of pulp porn. The beaver is a symbol of Canada, but one that shows how eager (as a beaver) we are to lift our tails and accept foreign intrusion. I applaud the name change and understand this form of Northern PC. Long live the beaver, succor to a lot of us!!! But not in public......

on a different serious note, to our B.C. associates:
How is the heavy-rain-flooding-contaminated-water-avalanche-risk situation where you are?

We want to put on a Winter Sports Event. Where, oh where should we go? A Temperate Rain Forest, you say? Perfect!

Didn't the Olympic Committee know that February is a summer month in Vancouver? On the other, Vancouver didn't just suddenly have the Winter Olympics dumped in its lap with no warning or advance indications of desire. They had to compete with other venues for the honor. So, if there is blame (and I'm not sure there is), Vancouver is the logical culprit. But surely they have snowmakers capable of making mroe snow if any is needed?
